Not helped by the tactics today. We went 442 but it seemed neither he nor Calvert-Lewin knew what the plan was.

Why not play both in a 2 up front formation. Ensure that opposition defenders have more than just 1 striker to look after.

Say what you want about Tosun, and maybe its just a giant coincidence, but we have struggled mightily since removing him from the team or only very late sub appearances. In the last 7 matches where he either hasnt played, or been a late sub we have gotten 4 points out of 21. In the last 7 where he played over 20 minutes we got 12 points.

0.92 goals per game when not playing(20 minutes or less), 1.75 when he plays.

Our all round attack was so much better earlier this season when he was central with Walcott and Richarlison either side of him. He may not be quick and may go ages without seeing much of the ball, but he at least moves a bit and creates space for the others around him. We're poorer overall when he's not playing currently.

He doesn’t miss many chances but isn’t mobile enough to play up front alone, and a strike partner isn’t a luxury afforded to many in 2018. Doesn’t suit the league either. A shame really, but one of them.

I guess if he goes, his leaving knees up will be at The Lisbon...

Just think he started the season pretty well and then got pied off after stinking the place out against West Ham. He's hasn't had a proper chance since.

Plenty of other players have had terrible spells (*cough Walcott) and the manager still keeps the faith with them.

I'm in the minority, but I think he could be one of those streaky strikers who go on a bit of a run (when played regularly).

According to Graeme Sharp, the consensus within parts of the club is that he deserves a chance: he's meant to impress in training!

The problem is neither DCL nor Tosun, not even Niasse maybe. We do not have an attacking play that works against the opponents, players have no idea about what to do next, much like disorganized. They are just playing to whomever has a little bit more space than the previous guy and it is not like we create loads for the strikers and they miss sitters.

Not saying strikers have no blame here, but football is a team game and you are as good as your team mate. Silva still does not have an organized attacking play where every player knows what to do next with multiple alternatives and I do not know how much time it takes to build it. The worse thing I do not even see the team working towards it, the attacking play is way worse than the start of the season.
