According to Graeme Sharp, the consensus within parts of the club is that he deserves a chance: he's meant to impress in training!

I don't think he is anywhere near as bad as some make out.

He is screwed though as we don't play a system that suits him.

Still far too slow.

He can work hard on his short distance acceleration but he's just not naturally athletic enough to play as a lone striker. Nor is he good enough back to goal to bring other players into the game. So I just don't know what his strengths are. We aren't a good enough team to have a penalty box striker. Even yesterday he waited on the edge of the box rather than making the run into the 6 yard area. It was criminal.

Bernard skinned out and put the ball on a plate for either of the 2 strikers in the box to get on the end off, they both stood there and never ran towards the ball

Our all round attack was so much better earlier this season when he was central with Walcott and Richarlison either side of him. He may not be quick and may go ages without seeing much of the ball, but he at least moves a bit and creates space for the others around him. We're poorer overall when he's not playing currently.

The ball stuck with him yesterday and he had a couple of decent shots. Lacks the pace to really make an impace but DCL lacks any sort of natural goalscoring talent so if we need goals, we need to choose the player who can score them.

It definitely did. Our fans have a great habit of telling everyone that players aren´t doing well because of the system. I guess to some it is more comforting than admitting we´ve signed another 20million plus dud.
