Silva has tried several combinations in attack recently without Tosun in consideration at all, (I think Newcastle was the last game he started). He didn't look particularly threatening earlier on in the season in terms of goalscoring but we were playing a damn sight better than we are now so we might as well go back to basics and see if we can reset.

I think if Bernard can keep the RW position then Tosun could start getting more chances. It was unforgiveable that neither him nor DcL tucked that square ball away the other day but it was a lot closer to DcL than Tosun and Cenk is seriously lacking any kind of sharpness.

If we aren't going to sign a striker this window, I'd persist with Cenk for the time being.

I agree with you. The team played well against Wolves, Bouremouth and Southampton with him up top and he got a few assists. Even though it was 2 draws we should have won all three as we played some of our best stuff in those games. After that the whole team underwhelmed against West Ham and Huddersfield and he was binned as a result. The fact is, he has shown he can finish (sometimes) and even if he can't do much else, most of our attackers aren't finishing their dinner at the moment. He hasn't played much with Gomes or Bernard who are two of our better creative players as well meaning he could get a few more chances from them.
 
Might as well give him a run of games if we can't find anyone to take his wages from us.

Start on Saturday and hopefully he'll knock in a few against a lower team, and his confidence will grow. At the very least it should inflate his value at little.

It would be suicidal to start a bang out of form striker.

....I could imagine Lincoln’s CBs will be absolutely chuffed if Tosun starts. He’s not going to outmuscle them, he’s not going to run past them, he’s not going to out jump them.

Lincoln will be a challenge, plus they will have significant vocal backing. It’s unlikely to be a matter of Tosun turning up and getting a few goals. He’s not good enough to suggest that. He’s a decent finisher if we create, but we didn’t create much against Leicester.

I’d honestly consider Niasse ahead of Tosun. He gave the club a lift when we struggled last season.

....absolutely, especially as we had two strikers on the pitch at that stage. One normally goes near, whilst the other goes far Post. Neither busted a gut to get in front of the defender.

I said that myself to a mate at the game but two others in front thought it was Bernards fault.

I had a couple of mates say Bernard’s ball wasn’t up to scratch. But then they applauded pogbas goal - the one where he busted a gut to get a toe on it.

Considering our strikers are meant to be strikers their anticipation or wanting to dive in at the ball is atrocious.
