The term "top-level striker" is being an example of catachresis here. No matter what you think, Everton cannot sign a top-level striker. Face and embrace the fact. I see some "Cavani" posts in multiple threads which is ridiculous. Everton doesn't need an aged top striker who will demand a galaxy to accept an offer from Everton.

What Everton need is to find or produce a young, talented striker who can turn into a top one. If you can't produce, find another Lukaku somewhere else but with more reliable characteristics. Sign him, warm him up. Everton has Duncan Ferguson as a coach. Cenk can be a good tutor as well. He wasn't even close what he is now 5 years ago. He developed under Mario Gomez, Demba Ba and battled for a starter position with Aboubakar. That's how he has become a good striker with his current abilities.

Patience is the key. Everton is suffering around mid-table for a long time now and fans are expecting a step further. It can not happen in the blink of an eye, it needs investment and patience. Brands' signings look promising so far, be patience, do not give up on what you have. I mean from the ones who at least tries and gives their best on the pitch, rest will follow.

2 assists in 3 games, bundled over for what should have been a pen, leading our pressing game, links up well with the forwards, but yeah let’s drop him.
I think with the amount of deadwood that has been shifted, and Keane and Siggy playing well, it was inevitable the negative focus would turn on a perfectly good player for the sake of it, and because Cenk hasn't scored yet some people think he hasn't contributed to the season so far and needs replacing.
Cenk Tosun is more then good enough for Everton Football Club

I know it is. But how does having a striker who's not good enough fit into that scenario?
I don't deny that it would help if he had a little bit more pace, but this system we are playing at the moment does'nt require a 20 goal a season forward imo. It is about bringing others into play, he is there to hold the ball up and lay it off for others to run on to and he has already done this a couple of times with the goal the other day and one of the goals against Wolves. I don't think it's helping him either the fact that when our wide forwards are coming inside the pitch, that neither of our fullbacks seem to be able to cross a road at the moment, let alone a football.

I dont subscribe to the view that forwards are there to do this that and the other and that scoring is only part of their game. It's the reason for them being on the pitch. If they do other things like press, hold up play, assist etc then that's a bonus.

Once he gets a chance to bag, he'll take it. Main game has been facilitating Walcott and Richarlison so far.

Plus, he's better than that Slimani and plenty said they'd rather have that cart :hayee:
