I agree he needs time but always makes me laugh how people are so convinced that players who they hardly know anything about will come good.

He showed good touches, it wasn't that he was Niasse levels of limbs flailing everywhere. It seemed more a case of not knowing what exactly was expected of him, and that's due to only have a training session or two with his team mates. Add on top of that, the PL is a different beast to any other league for intensity, work rate and strength. That's a lot to contend with when you are thrown in after another player has got injured.

As i said i thought he showed a few touches of promise, hence why i think he will come good

I was just reading through some of the comments on our midfielders, I couldn't carry on without typing, thinking of a performance from one particular player
in one of the replays against Villa in the 70s. He was Mike Bernard someone I never ever rated in the air, on the ground, exciting or boring, hard or meek.
He must have taken a knock during the first half and the sub had been used, in the second half it became obvious that it was a bad injury we had half an hour extra time to come! He limped along that right wing tackled and was tackled non-stop throughout and even moved in to help fellow midfielders, his
performance memorable (Maybe not a WW1 Fusilier) but in between somewhere a bit of bottle for our club, I had gone to that game straight from work
skint and only a ticket in my pocket, in the hope of seeing my namesake and hero of that time show us all his Magic touches...........well no! he didn't,
because he didn't have the heart in him to do so. I only hope that some of the new players brought in to our shores have been vetted for bottle. I say let
us start by banning Fist-pumping, and banning players that want to wank your thumb instead of shaking hands properly.

Problem today was when Gomes got injured we ended up with 2 defensive midfielders playing. It never worked when Gueye played alongside Schneiderlin so I'm not really surprised it didn't go so well. Get Gbamin alongside either Delph or Gomes or maybe even both and no number 10 and I'm sure he will be a different player. Midfield is one area I believe has improved when everyone is fit.

Not a signing we needed, IMO. A like-for-like replacement for Gueye was necessary.
No. Absolutely not. Because there isn't one. There is simply no play as disruptive as Gana that can also pass forward. Not a single one. The guy initiated more duels than any other player in the PL for sure.

I know you can't name one, so I won't waste my time.

Gbamin was a solid replacement and a good defensive mid. He'll be our starting 6 in a week or two and be terrific. He's not a CM. He only was playing there out if an emergency.

Now of course you won't know this, because that's the first time you've ever seen him play in your life. Yet you still have an opinion. No surprise.

Danny Drinkwater? You are out of your mind. We signed an aging, stabilizing utility guy already. Dear lord. You want to win the CL, but you'd advocate signing Danny Drinkwater instead of Gbamin. There's a reason several teams have been in for Gbamin in the past year or so and the best Drinkwater can do is go on loan to Burnley.

How has our midfield improved?

You do know we're going with Davies and Gbamin against Watford? Decoure will have them off for fun mert.

It worked plenty with Gana and Morgan because Gana played as an 8 and covered enough ground for both of them. Gomes missed several of those games down the stretch we won.

Or you've seen then plenty and think they'll come good. He was playing in Germany, not in Chile.

Gbamin has replaced Gueye which at this stage is a downgrade but when Delph is fit he is an improvement on McCarthy. I'm willing to give Gbamin time to get up to speed and he may be more suited to the DM role in a Silva team. People last season were praising Gueye for his defensive work but saying he limits us going forward so I would doubt it would have ended any different with him playing today.
