Centre Midfield

So another season wasted in your words? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

We'll see. At this stage I think given we haven't got the squad we want the key thing is to try and make sure we at least get more points than last season and hopefully get closer to those above. Maybe towards the end of the season we will be closer to what we are looking for. It was never an over night fix but in my opinion midfield is one of our least concerns. Central Defense, Striker and no left footed winger need addressed first.

Gbamin has replaced Gueye which at this stage is a downgrade but when Delph is fit he is an improvement on McCarthy. I'm willing to give Gbamin time to get up to speed and he may be more suited to the DM role in a Silva team. People last season were praising Gueye for his defensive work but saying he limits us going forward so I would doubt it would have ended any different with him playing today.
It's not only that he's better suited to a DM role, he was brought in to explicitly play it. He said so himself. To play the 6.

Do you think that is good enough for EFC....maybes and if's and end of season bs?

And pounded Man U 4-0 and Burnley 2-0. Beat Cardiff 3-0. Tied Liverpool. You really want to play this silly game?

No I seen them results as well. I just feel that in certain games playing 2 DMs doesn't work. Some posters were calling the Gueye, Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson the worst midfield we ever had at the start of last season, that was also an over reaction. Gueye was a good player and made us tick but now we have to find a new way of play and I just hope it's more forward thinking.

Do I think this is good enough?? Absolutely not but we need to build we have had no stability over the last few years so what csn people expect. We need to improve on consecutive 8th place finishes get closer to that top 6. I believe we can do this we just need to hope our defense doesn't pick up any injuries. Time will tell I suppose.

Why haven't we got any stability tho? Over the last few years?......

Chopping and changing every manager has his own ideas and we have to start from scratch. If this one is taking us in the right direction even if it's slowly I'm willing to give him some time. If he doesn't improve on 8th then maybe we need to look at things but the Mess Martinez, Koeman and Allardyce left us in isn't a quick fix. Ideally my midfield this season would have been Gueye and Gomes with Gbamin and Delph as back up with Schneiderlin sold. However now Gueye has gone Schneiderlin needed to be kept and we go with what we've got.

I know he was bought to play the 6 that's why I'll reserve judgement until he plays alongside Delph or Gomes.
That would be wise. He was still a bit surprised by the speed of the game, but he's good enough with the ball he'll be fine. The strength of the game won't affect him at all. He's a beast.

I think I tend to agree with most of what you say apart from I never like to see 2 DM together even if we did get some results. Parkinson, Carsley even Gueye were criticised initially and they all went on to do good jobs. Fingers crossed one of Gomes or Delph is fit next week so we can see Gbamin in his own position. Follow Gueye was always going to be tough but I'm willing to give him time.

You haven't addressed the stability issue tho...I mean the club hasn't addressed it and they haven't addressed it this window...either they put their trust in Silva or they don't...it's that simple

They have to a degree they didn't sack him so they have given him more time. They allowed him to bring 7 players in. Hopefully next summer with more dross gone we can address the areas that need sorting. Centre Midfield is now a long way down on this priority list. I think some of your issues don't belong in this thread.

I don't agree with you because I want EFC to be No.1 and 'fans' like you are getting in the way of this happening. For instance how is CM not a priority? Do you even watch football and understand basic principles of having a football and keeping it and controlling it?

We have 2 CM in Gomes and Delph. We also have Davies you can only have so many in a 25 squad. You also need DM we have Gbamin and Schneiderlin. It's all well and good having the ball and controlling it but look what happened when Gueye was injured last season and we went with 2 CM at home to Spurs. Midfield is all about blend unfortunately today we didn't have the right blend after Gomes went off. Perhaps Davies should have been brought on but if it had ended 0-0 everyone would have been saying why did we sign Gbamin if we didn't bring him on. The manager couldn't win. If Deplh had been on the bench it would have been a no brainer and a like for like swap. Fans like you knee jerking at every manager are just as culpable part of what's holding us back is financial because we are paying players that new managers don't want.

You see? You are getting in the way of EFC being successful ever again.

We don't have anyone in CM who'll take responsibility for the ball...that's the problem.

It's been a problem since HK...yet no one can see it...and it's really simple...you keep hold of the football and don't let any one else take it from you.
