How does anyone enjoy seeing that 'kill the game' type of football team winning anything?

They've blighted this tournament's final since 2006. I despair everytime they get into a semi-final knowing the show-piece game of the season is in danger of being choked to death by the Boa Constrictor method they employ. My heart sank when Madrid were knocked out this year - the only team capable of combating the muck they churn out.

I look back on the past 10 years of EC history as the nadir of the game on our continent.

"A perfect antidote to the problems in the world game at the moment", so goes the propaganda today. No, a perfect antidote to Insomnia. The nightmare we all thought had been laid to rest is recurring again.

I should point out that Neymar's Shinya Hashimoto style "100% Jesus" headband had the room in bits

I loved when he 100% scored with his hand, he 100% celebrated it like he scored with his head, then 100% lied to the referee, and then 100% acted like a spoilt brat kid....

But hey, all that was 100% what Jesus would have wanted....

Footballers really really annoy me when they bring religion on to a football pitch....seeing them pray before kick off, after they score, after the game when they win......its like, if you are really religious, if you really believe there's a god who will answer your prayers, then these footballers truly are *#@*s......you get paid millions a year to kick a ball around win or lose, while kids die of cancer....and you're gonna look up to the heavens and say, God I know right now there's children dying of cancer and people left paralysed from car crashes and people living in impoverished countries, but I really need to win this match so i can enjoy spending my millions of pounds a little more....

Thought it was great game. Buffon kept Juve in it in the first half. After the equaliser Juve had a great spell but they lacked a real attacking threat, with a world class no.9 they could have snuck it last night.

i think anyone who believes in god is nuts anyway but that's not for the here and no ha. but got to defend neymar here, so if you were lining up in a champions league final and you're religious ... massively religious and you have had this great life set up you're going to think it's all down to god. if you're at the start of a champions league final and a striker of course you're going to pray that you win and score a goal. obviously if there's a player on the other team doing exactly the same you're going to be asking questions of god when you lose ... well you should anyway.

but yeah, religious people are a different breed than us athiests, anything good that happens to them they believe is a gift from god, so they're saying thanks for it - no problem with that myself.

also imo the goal should have scored because it wasn't a deliberate handball, there's nowhere in the rulebook that says if it's inadvertently deflected in off the hand then the goal should be ruled out.

It's funny because Martinez wants us to play like that

No, no he does not.

He wants his teams to provide players on the ball with options in order to hurt the opposition asap - preferably with a forward pass, not press like maniacs to retrieve the ball and then be happy to pass it sideways to run out a game. The difference is between the Cruyff Barcelona and this vintage of kill-the-game drones as perfected by Guardiola.
