No, no he does not.

He wants his teams to provide players on the ball with options in order to hurt the opposition asap - preferably with a forward pass, not press like maniacs to retrieve the ball and then be happy to pass it sideways to run out a game. The difference is between the Cruyff Barcelona and this vintage of kill-the-game drones as perfected by Guardiola.

Seems like this season we've done everything in our power to avoid making a forward pass tbh

Guardiola won more trophies than Cruyff so it's not surprising Martinez prefers to play more like Cruyff.

Guardiola > Cruyff.
Moyes > Martinez.

At least Martinez has won a trophy, and they did it by taking the game to the most expensively assembled squad in English history and beat them fair and square.

Moyes
Preston North End
  • Football League Second Division: 1999–2000
Manchester United
  • FA Community Shield: 2013

Martinez

Swansea City
  • Football League One: 2007–08
Wigan Athletic
  • FA Cup: 2012–13

That Barca team have been regularly bumming sides by 4 or 5 goals on a weekly basis this season. Hardly crab-passing, run-down-the-clock football now, is it?

La Liga is like the Liverpool Business House League outside of Madrid/Valencia/Seville/Atletico.

It's when they play decent opposition that the old kill-the-game tactics are deployed.

Nothing to do with other teams trying to contain them then?
I dont see that; I see barcelona holding onto the ball and then throwing themselves to the ground if an opposition player comes within a metre of them.

They are utterly shameless.

That's weird, I see Barcelona steamrolling everyone and winning trebles. Do Chelsea get your blood racing more?
They are a shameless bunch of cheats who hound refs to dismiss opponents and fall to the ground if one comes within touching distance of them. 24 free kicks they were awarded last night to 12 for Juventus. That stat goes hand in hand with the possession stats massively in their favour.
