Champions League revamp

An interesting thought from the Guardian: “National government may have limited formal powers to stop any super league. But local government may have more, stronger and long forgotten powers. Football Clubs use the name of their towns and cities with the permission of the local council. If Liverpool Council decides it no longer wants Liverpool FC to bear its name, then they could withdraw that right. The club could still exist and play in the new ESL but call itself something else (Red Mersey?) but they could no longer call itself Liverpool. That would be an utterly extraordinary move but maybe even the threat would be something.”

Welcome Gang of Bellends FC

That's speculation. We dont know what the club would have done. PSG said no
For now...

And there's no tellin' who

Will be later to win

And 'kin how.

Again, this isn't a good bargaining tool. I used this earlier, this is like begging your woman not to leave you. They should rip the fn bandaid off and bin these clubs out. They already have too much "power", using this is just going to give them more unless someone takes a stand.

I completely agree they should be severely punished both by UEFA and domestic leagues. I don't think you should ever try to appease clubs who go this far to try and gain an unfair advantage. The issue is whether I expect them to be punished and I'm not sure. I tend to think there will be some sort of compromise at some point in the near future although I don't think that is what should happen. I want to see strong actions and not just words from UEFA and the PL.

As much as I'm not a huge fan of the man, Simon Jordan is adamant this is all just bargaining and brinkmanship and a deal will be reached between clubs and UEFA.

He's usually right on this sort of thing, and I tend to agree.
It may well have been the purpose of it but those clubs have crossed the rubicon - it'll backfire on them, its a misstep at best a major miscalculation in reality.

The Americans would love that

A complete rebrand

Probably written by some skint bell end in his one bedroom flat.
It’s not your money my friend. You actually aren’t involved, they have no idea who you are.
Now enjoy your pot noodle and stop embarrassing yourself on another fans forum.
Sorry Thomas, but seeing how you come from a family of hostlers, and I myself have a more aristocratic background, we'll take my opinion on Superleague being what the fants want.

That's fair its early days for invited clubs to have their arms twisted

He said the same thing last time...but with the club's officially announcing it, I think it's taken a bigger step into reality.

The clubs know about the changes to the CL which is why they've taken this up a notch. The only way it doesn't happen and they back track is if UEFA retract the proposal for increasing the teams in the CL and keeping the co-efficent points system that allows teams in regardless of league position.
