Champions League revamp

There is a real risk that the future of our clubs and many others are at stake here. If the six go and get what they want, we won’t be able to compete financially, won’t be able to enter the top European competition within which they play, and they may even use the PL as a reserve league leading to dwindling TV revenue. I can’t see any benefits to this for the other clubs.

What needs to happen at this PL meeting today

- full and total agreement that the scabs can no longer be part of the league
- they can finish this season but with a massive points deduction
- discussion with the FA and EFL over the cup finals, Leicester to be handed the FA Cup and either Brentford the League Cup or reinstating the team closest to the final to play them (which would be us as we had played Utd in the QF who went on to face City in the SF) on Sunday
- discussion with the EFL and National League over restructuring the leagues without the scab 6

The only snag is that kicking them out now makes it hard to calculate the 'results' of the remaining games to be played.

Id rather not allow them to participate with immediate effect

Very tricky.

If give them a 100pt penalty each and a 5 year european ban.

Then they are relegated with no european games and 100% reliant on domestic football.

You would soon see a new 'big six' emerge in those 5 seasons.

The owners and the club's sponsors.

There is clearly a groundswell of anger and passionate opinion against this unethical money grab.

These sponsors are inseparable from the actions of their partner clubs and a bit of consumer action would make some of these companies want to dissociate with this cultural vandalism.

These brands are supporting potential cultural and community destruction, greed and socially irresponsible governance.

A template letter and CEO email list of these firms should circulated among all club fanbases and the like. Cut off the life blood of these corporate monsters.

@MikelsGoat care to post this around twitter ?

I think this Government led fan review that’s been announced will do the trick.
No, really, it’s just what’s needed to reset the game and ensure our clubs are owned by decent, law abiding folk with the best interests of the game and the fans at heart. I have every confidence that their far reaching recommendations delivered firmly and quickly will make absolutely feck all difference to the Scab 6 and their hypocritical customers.
I wish I lived your world for just one day! Just like all the other Government reviews which have led to positive change. It’ll be toothless, they can’t make these owners sell up and go.

Perez saying viewing figures are declining. Yeah, coz loads of people are watching for free via illegal streams.

He's trying to make out that this is proof of young people not being interested in football, and that this idea is somehow gonna be the 'saviour' of football.

Interesting the Spanish have let SIX English clubs in. Madrid are only arsed about not getting less than what Premier League clubs get.

The rather sad thing that you don't see is that this will be the end of Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, and Spurs. Sure, the brand names will continue but the core, the heart, and nature of these clubs will be gone.

I am not sure if you fall into the Legacy Fan bracket, but these traditional community-based fans will be lost in this strategy and all of the marketing and effort put into developing new Future Fans. You might not realise it at first but soon the reality will dawn on you that you simply do not matter to the corporate machine that you used to love - this will happen. When it does you might give up on football altogether or you might realise that the game you knew did continue and that really, AFC Liverpool, though only playing Marine and the like is where your heart is. This is your future.
That’s the bit they don’t seem to get.

I think the clubs planning this are really risking the future. Will Liverpool move permanently to Boston in time?? I could definitely see that happening and I bet you it’s already been discussed as part of the long term vision.

It’s been said by themselves already. They don’t care for the fans of the past, they’ll cater for the fans of the future knowing they’ll still retain the majority of the fans from the past at there new base.

It’s all about money and having a massive fan base in the UK having to stream games from the US whilst giving the sport a huge kick start over there ticks all the boxes.

They wouldn't be - there's six of them and three relegation slots.

It should be relegation for the six, the three clubs at the bottom when the season ends get a reprieve and three clubs from the Championship come up. Alongside a five year European ban, which I'd be all for.

it’s comical. I do agree that the Liverpool players are not to blame here and so they were unfairly targeted but the players are the only one who will take any of the anger for this because the owners who make the decisions hide away like the cowards they are
It is a lot more unfair being sat on a coach while it is being attacked with bricks. That is my point.

They are getting their super tele clappers league and will continue to play in the premier league, gutless to the core English football.

I know we won't do it but I really wish that the club find its backbone and boycott our game against Arsenal on Friday. Seriously if we and other clubs stood up for once and refused to participate in any games that involve the scab six it would end them. They'd have to rush their little "invite only" league through immediately because they'd have no one else to play.

We would love to see that happen but let's break it down........

1) Full agreement wont happen - Steve Parrish as good as said last night we need the six in the league
2) Massive points deduction - Why / under what rule?
3) Cups - I know it's way less significant than PL TV rights, but what about TV money if it's not completed? Restart would suggest the TV will play a role in decisions to complete, even if that is now a "tick the box" exercise
4) See point one

They should just cancel the league cup (I'm not calling it by its latest cringeworthy brand name) final at the weekend and be done with it. Neither Man City or Spurs deserve a chance to win a trophy that they have so little respect for. Just cancel it and give the trophy to Brentford. Do the same thing for the FA cup final to, just hand it over to Leicester City now and be done with it. No more pandering to the scab six.

Whilst I'm on board with this and it's what should happen it most defiantly won't. For Sky, carabou, whoever sponsors the FA Cup/champions league this is going to be viewing gold with people tuning in to watch the fallout, hate, pre match, protests etc so as ever money will rule.

It's like when there are photos of Kate Middletons tits rumoured to be published in the foreign press, everyone says how terrible is that then gets on there ipad to find a link to see them.

Either way, the PL clubs is screwed. This is about share of wallet and nothing else. In either scenario, they are trying to maximise their own share through sheer greed. Whether they stay or go, that’s all they care about and it’ll continue to destroy the game we love.

So my view is that we throw the book at them. Exclude them from all competitions. Allow them to go off and make the game they want. A closed shop, franchise football, pandering to consumers rather than ‘legacy’ fans. Let it be about entertainment and adverts and half time shows and experience. That’s not what I’m interested in at all.

Let them go and make their own thing and then the clubs around Europe that are left can take the opportunity to make sweeping changes to make the game what they want. A competitive sport for the fans. *That’s* what made the game popular and successful. That’s why people love it. The same reason why the love watching Sunday league and kids footy. That’s what should happen.

The problem is, UEFA and the remaining clubs are just as bad. They are all corporations trying to maximise value for shareholders. The two ideas cant really coexist.

Whatever happens from here, we as fans are going to be the ones screwed over.
