TBF probably the formation of the PL set the wheels in motion of what is happening now, to a certain extent.

Ultimately, football in this country was on its knees and whilst it was a power grab, it was for all of the right reasons.

English football following the European Ban, Hillsborough, and years of neglect was on its knees and it needed saving.

Sides like Morecambe could still climb the ladder, win the league and participate in the Champions League.
What does a Super League Create? Nothing it’s a roadblock and ruins even the smallest teams ambitions to compete at the top.

Two entirely, completely different scenarios in which one was used to ultimately salvage football, the other to ruin football.

They tried to furlough staff and was hell bent to finish a league season known full well it would kill people , scab would be complimentary.

Because, objectively, it was the first step in the monetisation of the game. It broke the previous league structure. It was and remains very different to the filth that is proposed today and stinks of “well, they started it” but it was a fundamental change with the financial health of the few at it’s heart.
