Champions League revamp

The ESL being suspended is an afterthought to me now. What comes next is most important. This is a real turning point to incite positive change. If all you feel is joy for the suspension and no anger towards anything else you may as well just support a cricket team as football has stopped meaning something to you.
Its the actual wording of suspended that worries me most.
Why not cancelled , it suggests to me they are just putting back on the shelf for now.
Harsh sanctions needed to stop this happening again.

no one is arsed if they did or didn't say sorry in the statement, your text on a website means absolutely nothing.

Premier League Rule 9 which very clearly broken by them all and they should be punished for but wont be.

They declared an intention.

They cant enter a competition that doesn't exist.

A court of law would laugh at that rule.

For the record I want all 6 relegated to DAS SPL.

But I can see why no sanctions will come, but lets not forget, my record on predictions is quite possibly the worst in Europe.

This thing will happen, one day, just a diluted form and maybe even still under UEFA as a super CL competition. It’s inevitable under the current footballing structure and governance.

Rule 9. Except with the prior written approval of the board, during the season a club shall not enter or play its senior men’s first team in any competition other than

L.9.1 – The UEFA Champions League
L.9.2 – The UEFA Europa League
L.9.3 – The FA Cup
L.9.4 – The FA Community Shield
L.9.5 – The Football League Cup or
L.9.6 – Competitions sanctioned by the County Association of which it is a member

Think you would struggle to punish someone for breaking this before a ball has been kicked or any fixtures or dates put into the calendar. Would get messy legally. I don't think the PL will pursue it. They should but they won't.

I didnt say I dont care, I said I was happy its all over, sorry if I dont share your anger.

There has to be a deterrent in place so this cant happen again. That's why carrying on like nothing happened won't work.

How can we trust these clubs not to just try and force through something similar in future? If there are no repercussions and no future deterrent, then I think we'll see this happen again.

Guardian reporting the FA / PL threat was "walk away now or face severe punishment" I suspect nothing will happen

My suspicion is, thats what has been said. Essentially, resign now, or we will look to kick you out and if you come back later there will be punishments.

Of course, there is olenty of road to run on this. Sides like Bayern/PSG etc are going to want blood. Germany are not going to want to give England more power over this. And overwhelmingly fans want them punished, so there is enormous pressure from below. But I call it as I see it, and as of right now, I cant see much appetite for punishment.

There are wider questions here. The Liverpool statement doesn't read like a statement where there is any contrition or acknowledgement of what has happened (is the word sorry written once?) and the phrase of "suspended" being bandied about makes me think they don't see this as permanent.

The flip is though, the narrative has now been made clear, fans don't want this. Next time they try to bring it back, fans will be in stadiums, and the question will be, if it was wrong then, why is it right now. So it's a big defeat, but I wouldn;t be surprised if they try again at some point.

I'd imagine the 14 teams are going to make it very hard for them to get anything they want now. They will have to live with that for a bit.

The question for FSG is where now. I think a large portion of their fans will be done with them. They sold Klopp and the players out. There will be a question to the extent they have planned for that 350m (not an insubstantial sum) and what calculations now have to be made.

FFP will be gone, City are going to spend big. A fascinating period we are going into!

If no punishments happen then if I was Moshiri break FFP in the summer and bankroll Carlo to the hilt and the second the corrupt scum at the top try pull us up show them that and query why no punishments for them.

About time our club grew a backbone, we took a stand today and made the 14 clubs voices heard - lets keep on doing it and start that by publicly calling for punishments in an official statement this week.

I find it laughable that a clown who supports 6 different clubs tells me that football means nothing to me.

I was very concerned that football was going to cease as we knew it, so now I'm over the moon that its not going anywhere, but yeah, I don't care about football.

I don’t fully get your take.

I was very agitated by all this at the thought the game we know would be over, but the ESL falling apart and the clubs coming back with no sanctions doesn’t really take that worry away for me

I guess it’s that hope that at some point the sport would hit its limit and return to some normalcy. Not taking action now would make me feel like that’ll never happen. It’s a decent chance for something, anything, to happen

I don’t know what most peoples expectation of Evertons public reaction and official stance after this, but I want to hear them at least demanding sanctions
