Champions League revamp

The media are absolute jokers in all of this. They loved the story because it was controversial and they went hard on it. As soon as the tide started to turn and it became obvious things were going to remain the same, they reverted to their usual love in of the so called Big Six.

As far as I am concerned, Sky and other broadcasters are to blame for this egotistical view that those clubs have of themselves. Sky built them up and built them up over the years. In some cases like Tottenham, it isnt actually based on results but instead based on having a manager they all loved and playing a decent style (pre-Mourinho).

Sky need to have a good hard look at themselves and ask themselves, are they a channel dedicated to football or a small slice of football that is deemed to be the biggest profile by their own spin.

I think the PL needs to go hard against these clubs, change voting rules, refuse to give them TV money for 2.3 years (10% of the contract they signed up to with ESL) and give that money to lower league teams which could not come at a better time for them.

As for Sky, they should come out with other broadcasters and refuse to show any of the big six's game until the end of the season. Even though that would mean I didn't see Everton play certain games, I'd be happy to miss it because of the message it sends.

But the question is, were UEFA involved all along?

In the midst of panic, and crisis, UEFA pushed through the CL reforms, which actively benefitted 4 of the 12 teams, and it got brushed under the carpet.

Then broke news that they'd brokered their own reform of the CL with similar payments.

You're right, but we're a seat at the back of congress, and who will listen to that?

Those reforms to the CL format (though not the financing) were in the works for a while. If Cefelli was in on it from the start, he's a phenomenal actor. Not saying it's impossible, but it's a truly impressive and corrupt job of it if he was.

The venue where I would confront the gang of six would be the Prem meetings, where we're the de facto leader of the remaining 14, rather than UEFA where we are, as you say, a small voice. I'd just make sure that my message leaked in a way that Cefelli would hear, and form my judgments about what's going on at UEFA based upon his actions.

Why did he not speak up until today? yet another one who comments when it is all over.

Only Gary Neville had the balls to say it as it was

I think hitting them hardest, will need to be something UEFA do, but they won’t. Absolutely no chance.

Unless we dock them enough points to not compete at the top, then they’re qualifying for Europe, and all is well, with the world.

The only way they’ll back down, is if you take away their biggest revenue source and that’s champions league football, and I just don’t see UEFA doing it.

I see Ceferin is now grovelling to them all and welcoming them back.

This entire thing has been a scam.

Oh all day.

There were murmurs that Woodward planned to step down regardless of the Super League, so his head may not have fell anyway, as a consequence.

Yesterdays chip papers by the end of next week, but meanwhile the clubs will still be lining their pockets with their two extra places based on “historical merit”.

They have the 6 over a barrel on voting rules.

They should, but they wont walk that tightrope; the 6 drive eyeballs even now. Sky / BT etc; still need their games, it wont happen
