Champions League revamp

Putin surely got this oligarchs on the short leash, basically feudalism there, Putin as almighty emperor and oligarchs as his aristocracy

Respectfully, I disagree. The speed with which this turn around happened was down to fan anger.

The government was the cause. The near-universal and vehement fan reaction was what got the government moving. The last time I saw a government throw its weight around that fast involved attacks on American soil.

It's probably worth noting that we utterly screwed the rescue workers in the aftermath.

The very least, the absolute baseline from the 14 clubs that needs to happen is a clause to protect themselves when it all kicks off again.
Think all sides inhere agreed that kicking the 6 out would have an adverse effect on the rest through diminished returns on future deals.
So, a divorce clause as a result of conduct to the detriment of the other clubs in the league to enforce costs equalling the losses for a period of 10 years.
Additionally, they will be subject to a re-entry fee as a percentage of monies received from their new venture.

PL can do what they like. But the longer this drags on the more I'd expect them to take a similarly cowardly route devoid of punishment to "protect the asset".

There's 14 clubs there spitting blood at what happened last weekend.

I fully expect EFC to demand some retribution, because if they dont then the fine words spoken on Monday of this week will be wasted and seen to be BS.

Points deductions are applied all the time over less important matters than this. The PL has to take some action - not fines, because fines wont hurt them.

I’m never one to credit Chelsea fans with anything, but they did it. It got real and scary for the clubs at that point. It’s no coincidence Chelsea announced they were leaving when the mob was at the gates.

If one of the other 6 had a home game before them, it would’ve happened then. But it just so happens it was Chelsea.

Within the next 5 years, I predict:
1. The European Super League will become a reality, with watertight legal safeguards backing it up 100%;
2. The scab clubs involved will not take part in any Champions League, or whatever it will be called by then;
3. The English scabs will protect their 'Super League superstars' by only playing fringe players and kids in the Premier League (and will justify it by saying, 'after all they are all First Team squad players!'),
4. UEFA and the Premier League will be shown to be utter incompetent fools for not taking strong action now.

I may be wrong, but somehow, I don't think I'm far off the mark...

Punishments are one thing, but if they don't tighten the rules about leaving (IE if you leave the CL/EL or whatever you are expelled automatically) then in a lot of ways they will deserve everything they get.

It would be akin to going out in your car, leaving the engine running and keys in and go and shout at the top of your voice "that cars left open" before walking off. You can't really complain too much if someone nicks in then can you?
