Champions League revamp

This "we can't deal with them again" nonsense has to stop. So, let's assume the 14 get the representatives of the 6 "replaced." Do they really think that replacing one of Abramovich's lackeys with another of Abramovich's lackeys is in some way going to make Abramovich more trustworthy? This is bizarre stuff.

I think there should be no relegations and no points deductions - but I'd hit them where it hurts: deny them access to the competition they were out to directly destroy: the UEFA Champions League. Therefore, five-year European football bans for each of the clubs. That will give the next tranche of clubs the chance to establish themselves as Euro regulars and, more importantly, make some money to narrow the gap with the snake clubs. If the value of the CL TV deal falls because of the bans, then a proportion of that shortfall should be levied against the nefarious six as compensation. Of course, UEFA have absolutely zero appetite for any justice. They just want to keep hold of the train set. Now that that has been achieved, the "football family" can come together. Incestuously.

Within the next 5 years, I predict:
1. The European Super League will become a reality, with watertight legal safeguards backint it up 100%;
2. The scab clubs involved will not take part in any Champions League, or whatever it will be called by then;
3. The English scabs will protect their 'Super League superstars' by only playing fringe players and kids in the Premier League (and will justify it by saying, 'after all they are all First Team squad players!'),
4. UEFA and the Premier League will be shown to be utter incompetent fools for not taking strong action now.

I may be wrong, but somehow, I don't think I'm far off the mark...

Think the PL are putting in a new rule that states any team participating in a new SL type league will be kicked out of the league

There’s definitely something going on. Why would these clubs pretend the super league is still a thing if there wasn’t something in it for them to keep the pretence / technicality of ongoing membership going?

Because they're ran by megalomaniacs and psychopaths, and critically there is nowhere near the same fan or potential legislative backlash over there.

That it? Points deduct them! They’re literally all saying how they’re committed to getting more money in. They’ll 100% do it again within the next 5 years.

I'd also imagine that there would be a large exit payment that would be auto-triggered in that event. I wouldn't be surprised if they all had to front it by paying in installments over the next several seasons.

I don’t deny either of those things, but they are not reasons to keep this charade up. There’s something in it for them if they stick it out.

Getting boring all this now.

If they aint being punished lets just kin move on instead of Sky and the like milking the story and pretending removing CEO's is some kind of effective punishment.

Joke.

I think that by "we can't deal with them" people are referring to the owners. You can deal with people that "you can't deal with" by forcing then into binding commitments with real consequences that take away their options.

All a five-year Euro ban does is guarantee that the ESL will become a reality. Keep the Treaty of Versailles in mind here. Crushing reparations do nothing but push them into further nefarious action. We want to tie them irrevocably to the league while at the same time punishing them enough to get the message across that we mean business and that the past is merely prologue, but not enough to drive them out.
