Champions League revamp

It's still the most visible league in the world. No one is going bankrupt.

Not saying they are, but my point will remain that it’s less of a sellable product, and it will impact every club, including Everton in the immediate future.

Build the product back up and go again, but that won’t happen over night.

This is all simply a ruse to pressure UEFA into the "Swiss system" Champions League format at tomorrow's meeting.

If the clubs get that - which they will - they have little reason to go their own way. UEFA will agree, the PL will agree, and it all depends now on the entry
requirements to the new 36-team CL.

Do you honestly believe that? Christ, they’ve got a president and an entire political hierarchy in place, but it’s all “a ruse”? Ridiculous thinking this.

It all depends on how much solidarity the rest of football act with - if it’s as it’s been today, I think this might end up positively.

However if someone (the PL) rolls over for these scumbags then yes the sport is over.

Think it might be broader than that, the whole of European football will have to have a coordinated response of solidarity.

For example I’d be happy enough if the six PL clubs were kicked out of the PL.

Would La Liga be happy if Barca & Real were not involved.

Serie A, without Juve and Milan’s.

Not sure there is even a mechinism for them to coordinate, maybe through Uefa. If one league falls to this, to keep these clubs involved domestically, the house of cards will fall.

Unless those clubs are kicked out, football is dead and every fan should protest at a local level.

What if all those players got injured before the tournament? Could they pull out then because it’s not the quality of product they signed up for?

Why am I even having to defend national football associations in a battle against greedy monopolies and sponsors?

I dont know, that wasn't my original argument....i asked if players, under contract, could legally be punished for the actions of their employer.
I'm not sticking up for these clubs, just questioning UEFA and FIFA...

And we're not talking about a few top players all getting injured....we're essentially talking about ALL the top players being banned from the next World Cup...that in itself would be extraordinary
