Charlie Davies

The only good that can come from this is that Chariie Davies' calling card, at least pre-accident, was his straight line speed to get on the end of through balls and runs. Our strikers now, absent an in-form Saha, don't give us this. Not that we play such balls, mind you.

Can't see him ever getting back to that speed and speed was his main weapon.

One leg is now shorter than the other, FFS. He had to relearn how to walk, let alone run, given the changes to his body.

That said, he's just now past the 2 year mark from the accident with only 6-7 months of limited playing time. The next 6-12 months of actual playing time will be the true test of how much he can/has gained back or new skills he can/has developed.

I think he's worth the risk for some team.... just not sure it's Everton.

He was one of my favourite player 's but when Arron Lennon , Sean Wright Phillips , Adam Johnson , Stewart Downing , Theo Walcott keep him out the whole England set up I'd say he's as good as , but that's my opinion , I don't think this American player is the type of player who could turn our season round , I hope Iam wrong mind due

Brian McBride came here at a time when the MLS was a lot, lot worse than it is now and scored four goals in eight games for us.

This Davies fella is apparently very quick and attack minded. For those reasons alone he's worth a punt given we still have Anichebe on the verge of a game for the first team when he shouldn't be playing professional football in the Premier League at all, ever.

American sportsmen give 110% every match and are as passionate as ****. For the price, and the role he'd play, yes please.

I really do not think Davies is the answer for a striker that we need. Remember he is quick and can finish. He cannot hold the ball up well and not sure how much better he will get.

Quit the Beckham talk and using that as a barometer of the MLS. Beckham is a world class distributor of the ball from Mid field. Two different players. Xavi shut your mouth about using Beckham as the gauge for players in the MLS.

That being said I would not spend the little money we have on Davies.

there are quite a few decent strikers in the mls in my opinion, i reakon davies is like beckford but mayb not as fast but more of a team player

I would label him as a "good player" but i'm unsure whether he'll step up in the premier league, the comparisons with Beckford make sense but I feel he's got more to his game then Beckford ever had, he's still only 25 and will offer something different to what we already have and will cost under a million, i'm pretty sure Moyes will be looking into this one.

I think if they're looking at strikers in the US, the list is fairly short. Agudelo (who is by no means a finished product) or Donovan. If you're looking at attacking MFs, Brek Shea (not sold on) or Chris Pontius (who I think would do well in the PL, but has been injured).

yeah surely under a mil is worth the risk. coleman, gueye, vellios and almost arteta, cahill, pienaar look how well the ones we have seen turned out (and so far for the young uns)

I don't need to David Beckham got MLS player of the year, he's been finished for years fella , that tell's me everything I need to know

No, he didn't. There seems to be a lot of misguided info/opinions you have about MLS.

That said, Charlie had lost his starting position by the end of the year, and I'm not surprised. He's not ready for the PL. Everton should pass.

Holy mcmolies.

Based on his current form I also don't think he'd be our best option. However, if he's dirt cheap, and we can't get anyone else for dirt cheap, might be worth a look just as another option. Personally, if you had to ask me for a call, I'd also pass.

Though I like the idea of having him come in right now for a trial - can't we do that and take a look? MLS offseason and all.

More Americans?!?!?! We wouldn't know what to do with ourselves! ;)

Finally - LD and Davies had a GREAT partnership going before Davies' car crash. The two of them worked extremely well together and their speed together was spectacular. With Davies having lost that speed, not quite sure how that would work now. But their partnership was indeed stellar:

I'm OK with it if he put a clause in the contract that says he must drive a 2005 1.6L Diesel Astra.
