Transfer Rumour Che Adams

So why is he considered such a figure of fun by the fanbase?

8 in 22 in the 2017-18 season

He'd be a bloody legend in this team
His average over 4 seasons is 6.25 goals a season.

His low is 4 and his high is 9.

If he gets his highest goal tally then hes done well, if he gets his average, not great, his low and we in trouble.

I know people point to the goals scored by our forwards last season and compare them to his, but its a low bar and not worthy of comparing.

So 9 goals and hes been a success for me.

This is one of the most depressing signings I can ever remember.

This team has been crying out for a striker for three years and kopite Kev has spunked most of his budget on three strikers who will be lucky to get 10 goals between them.
Of all the players we have signed while I have supporting Everton Che Adams would be nowhere near the worst.

Danny Williamson, Bilic, Nyarko, Koldrup, Straquilasi, Gbamin.... there has been a whole host of choices that cost more than Adams and produced nothing at all for us.

Adams is not an exciting signing but is a practical one.

It's not even him individually, just that it absolutely solves none of our problems in an area we have been desperate for two years during which we have nearly been relegated in the last week's of the season.

No idea who that is but there are plenty of examples either way

Jamie Vardy played non league until he was 25 and went straight to the Championship and developed into one of the best strikers in the country.

Sancho tore it up in Germany was hailed as one of the best in Europe went to Man United for 70M+ and looks no better than Demari Gray.
And yet with Che Adams, he’s not been tearing up lesser leagues like Vardy. He’s had literally 100 chances at this level already so we can know exactly what to expect. And what we can expect is a striker who while better than Maupay isn’t going to be prolific as will likely not get any better.

Andy Van der Meyde says hello :bye:

I think it may have been @Goat that started a thread about realistic expectations? Well, here's the reality, after supporting this club, from aged 7 in the 86 Cup final, we are has beens
Che Adams would improve us, simple.
Do I like that fact? No, but it's reality.
If he can chip in 7-10 goals this season then we probably stay up.
Get him in quick then let maupay out of his misery.

When we signed Maupay did you think he'd be good company for that list you composed? We are, despite appearances, conditioned to be positive about players when they sign. I'll admit it, from your list I was genuinely positive about Bilic, Nyarko, Koldrup and Gbamin. Adams might not, and probably won't, be as bad as most on that list. However, we already know he won't be great, he almost certainly won't be very good, he'll likely be OK but no better than OK, and he might be another Maupay.

Those of us opposed to this transfer are, in part, mourning for the club and what this transfer means for us. We are fodder. That's what signing Ché Everton Adams confirms.

He's never scored ten goals in a season in the top flight. He now has Alex Iwobi and Abdoulaye Doucoure supplying him, why do you think he will score that many here?

What a bizarre statement. So because a player hasn't played for Everton, despite having seen them play many, many times for their current club, we can't judge them? Why not? Does something magical happen when bad players spend a few weeks at Finch Farm? It seems to me that the reverse is true.
Players plural is the key word here. Seeing as you are diving in, how many times have you seen Chermiti play?

I dont think it was me mate, I dont have realistic expectations.

I don't think Adams is as terrible as people make out - I say again I think a full season of him would result in more goals in this team than a full season of Maupay.

But the shouts on here that if we wanted him all along then why on earth is he still not here are 100% correct.

We are such a flipping mess. Not sure Adams would have helped (or even started) yesterday. But we might have been sitting on 1 or 3 points if we'd played a striker who could finish in the Fulham game. We don't have 3 points to play with - we're going to be scrabbling round 17th-18th at best this season and we've already massively shot ourselves in the foot by being slow.

And the FFP arguments don't really wash either - because ultimately that's a problem of our own making. Our own poor financial management has resulted in us now not being able to spend when we really need to.

I reached a point last season where I convinced myself that a relegation and reset might be the only thing that fixes us. I'm heading there already this season and it's still August.
It might be the Maupay situation, we go and sign Adams that's us waving the white flag on wee maups. Then other sides know to take the pish. We might be trying to line him up for pastures new and then give Adams a try. It's the situation of losing a few million on every signing that has eventually caught up with us.
