He grew up in Winsford and Runcorn. He's about as Scouse as Jack Rodwell is.

Born in Liverpool, family are scouse. Are you saying that if two Brits move to Beijing after having a baby and the kid grows up there, then that kid is Chinese ? No, the Kid is English. If a couple from Swansea have a kid and then move to London does that make the kid a Cockney ? No, the Kid is Welsh.

On top of that, Bishop clearly considers himself Scouse, Liverpool is obviously close to his heart.

I really don't understand what it is with some Scousers being so defensive and critical of people who they don't deem as being 'Scouse' because they grew up in the wrong post code. Family is the most important thing in this situation, rather than just the fact that you lived a few miles in the wrong direction. It's not like Bishop has done a Cilla Black and turned his back on the City.

I get what you're saying. But my family are scouse but I don't consider myself scouse. I just say I have it in the blood. I say where you were born is your nationality/ area.

Same. I lived in Wales from Birth until i was 16. The difference with people like Bishop though is that he probably played with a lot of other kids whose families were also Scouse, and had moved away from the City just like many did in the 70's and 80's. I don't buy the idea that some people push which is that if you're not born within the city limits of Liverpool then you're automatically not a Scouser. There's a lot more to it than that.

He grew up outside of Liverpool. I don't have a problem with him feeling close to the place, I'm sure he does, and there's nothing wrong with that, but he's not a scouser.

So if the City limits of Liverpool were to inexplicably shrink at some point in the future then all those born outside of the new limits aren't Scouse ? Doesn't wash.
