I think Lampard wants to build a high energy, front foot pressing side.
He doesnt fit the mould.
If we somehow could get Gilmour and Garner on long term deals for 1/2 his proposed wage each...and managed to sell others to cover fees.
Then thats the better option.
But Eriksen + Tarkowski on frees gives us time to source/build long term replacements for those positions.

More money than Brentford?
He will undoubtedly have a host of CL clubs in for him, and if he doesn’t end up at a CL club, I don’t see a reason why he’d pick us over Brentford. Don’t reckon we could currently offer anything they couldn’t. Looked like he enjoyed his footy there too.
We probably “could”, but I think we’d be wise not to, given the mess we’re in.
I just find the why would he pick us over Brentford a bit strange to be honest.

I’d be extremely surprised if he stayed at Brentford. As you say, there will be bigger clubs showing an interest. I reckon we could offer a significantly higher salary than Brentford. I imagine Siggy’s wage alone would be higher than his Brentford wage, and that Siggy’s wage will be in the region of what Eriksen will get should he go to a CL club.
I don’t. We’re not currently a big draw.
If he hadn’t spent the last 6 months at Brentford, I’d fancy him to pick us over them, but as it is right now, for this particular player, Brentford would be the better option IMO.
