It was an American article. Apparently people realise they are paying for the delivery even as Prime customers, but the more they order the more they get the benefit and the prices were similar enough to other vendors online that also required additional shipping/ postage charges. Amazon was seeing a trend in customers buying in dribs and drabs regularly instead of making less frequent purchases but with a bigger number of items in those deliveries.Obviously there is a cost, but Prime includes TV as well, and that means PL football now as well.
There was a time when I'd order three different, say, wireless keyboards at once, rather than one at a time. Keep the one I want and send the others back. Sometimes Amazon question it later but never at the time. The other day I wanted to return a £5 tube of paint because I'd ordered acrylic instead of gouache. If I'd have had to pay return postage (sometimes you might still have to) I would have just kept it, but they said they'd refund me without the need to send it back.
I suppose people could abuse the system but it's really like taking something back to the shop, except Amazon will always return your money, not offer a voucher.
I also have Amazon Prime and am looking forward to seeing what the tv coverage is like. It really is handy and does work out cost neutral for me without having to pay for postage costs, and when my technophobe parents get me to order them stuff, it pays for itself.
Anyway, it's November and Christmas - bah humbug!
