Enter the chemistry teacher....Your right.. small dosage of nicotine isn't that harmful short term. It's the crap in the fags which makes them burn is the killer. Also your breathing in carbon dioxide which then turns into... Monoxide.
I'm sorry to say I'm vaping to come off them. Tried cold turkey lasted 3 yrs can't use patches or other nrt products. Don't hate on megone from 15 a day down to 1 a day.
Basically either way your Daffy ducked. The Mrs uses those heet things which warms and doesn't burn so you only get 75% of the crap.Enter the chemistry teacher....
Potassium nitrate .... that's what's added so that they burn down like a fuse whether you smoke it or not. It's a key ingredient in gin powder. As it is its not particularly harmful in itself, its just the wondrous cynicism of the cigarette industry that adds a component just so your purchase burns away quicker so that you light annother one. What with this and their ignored ability to remove the addictive nicotine, they've really been mugging off their customer base. There is no other need to add potassium nitrate - they don't add it to cigars or pipes both of which go out if not tended.
On a technical note carbon monoxide is made as the ciggy burns and while it can further oxidise into carbon dioxide later on, the reverse doesn't happen (CO2 TO CO).
Then the tories thought wtf, we'll just run down the NHS until people are so pissed off we can privatise the health service.I'm not a contrarian!!
Oh wait.
My dear boy one does not inhale cigars or pipes. That is a pursuit for those who smoke the tobacco floor sweeping wrapped in paper. Sure one is exposed to some nasties, but they are very much diluted, much lower risk, which is why they are not addictive and don't give you any buzz other than a lovely smell and flavour. Do you know the cigarette companies had the technology to remove nicotine from tobacco in the 1960s but never did? I can't imagine why. Gotta love unregulated capitalism haven't you... until government belatefly woke up from their tax revenue stupor and realised what smoking was costing the NHS.

Never liked cigarettes or cigars. My brother loves Havanas and gave me a present of some fairly expensive ones months ago. Still sitting there. Maybe I will smoke one when we get a new chairman
Elementary my dear Leonard
