Sorry it took me this long to answer but I had to observe our new NT under Rueda before answering.

View attachment 132917If Everton wanted to acquire new Colombian talent they should look into signing Luis Díaz he plays as a winger for Colombia and Portuguese club Porto. He was the main figure for Colombia during Copa and some of his goals were simply beautiful. The article below gives more insight about him. As stated in the article “His goals on Friday were impressive — the first proved how much control he has with the ball until the finish, and the second showed the power in his left leg.”

Get Brands on the phone. I'm sold!

Next week Colombia NT is supposed to be playing no two but three qualifying WC matches thanks to Conmebol and their unreasonable decisions. However the PL and English Clubs have voiced opposition and didn’t give permission to 60 players from 19 clubs who would have traveled to 26 redlist countries in the international window of September. It seem the Italian League is about to make a similar declaration. Now FIFA is threatening there will be penalties for the Clubs if players are not permitted to play for their NT. What a freaking mess. Whatever happens I hope Colombia is not put in a position to play three qualifying matches without our main players. Otherwise these matches should be canceled.

There is a little more than a week before the resumption of the South American Qualifiers to the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The 10 national teams, including Colombia, have already presented their lists of summoned for the triple date that will be played on September 2, 5 and 7 and in which those led by Reinaldo Rueda will face Bolivia, Paraguay and Chile in La Paz, Asunción and Barranquilla, respectively.

On Tuesday, the Premier League published a statement in which it reported that after reaching an agreement with the clubs it was decided not to lend to the players who are on the red list of the COVID-19 health emergency, drawn up by the British government. One of the measures would require players to quarantine for 10 days after returning to England so they would miss games from their clubs. Yerry Mina and Davinson Sánchez would be affected in the Tricolor.

After the decision of the PLA and after a letter sent by Conmebol, Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, assured that he is already working to be able to guarantee that all players can be with their national teams during the qualifying matches. The leader of the highest soccer organization has already communicated with Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, to be able to find solutions.

Among the solutions proposed are to welcome some measures that were applied during the Euro 2020 finals, in which the Government had to remove some restrictions to be able to host the final phases of the championship. Sanitary
bubble for players and negative COVID-19 test.

Statements by the President of FIFA

"In the past we have faced global problems together and in the future we will continue to do so. The transfer of players for the next international periods is a matter of utmost urgency and importance. I appreciate the support and collaboration of the different football interest groups during this difficult period.

I would like all member federations, all leagues and all clubs to show solidarity and do what is both right and fair for world football. Many of the best players in the world compete in the Spanish league and the English league, and we believe that these countries also share the responsibility to preserve and protect the sporting integrity of competitions around the planet.

On the issue of quarantine periods that players returning to England from "red list" countries must meet, I have contacted Prime Minister Boris Johnson in writing to request, in particular, that they not be deprived of the opportunity to represent their countries in FIFA World Cup qualification matches, which is one of the greatest honors for a professional footballer. I have suggested that the Government of the United Kingdom adopt for the next international periods a strategy similar to that applied in the final rounds of EURO 2020.

Together we have shown solidarity and unity in the fight against COVID-19. Therefore, I now urge everyone to guarantee the cession of international players for the next FIFA World Cup qualifiers."

I think you'll find just how little authority FIFA has here, by the way.

The club football is where the money is at, and they're going to ask Governments to change policy? Can't see it.

You can't play International Football (especially Conmebol) without your best European Talents.

Well it seems they have more authority than we think because after the PL, the Italian and the Portuguese leagues came out to say they were not allowing players to go then FiFA began with its threats and players are actually going now. Including Colombian Davison Sánchez from Tottenham.

This year FiFA has proven it has a lot more power than clubs as they squashed the Super League and now they have flexed their muscle with this issue too. They are indeed the Mafia.

James drama with the NT continues as many Colombians are upset that Rueda didn’t call him for the latest qualifying matches. So much that someone began a petition to get him back in the team lol

Ha, trying to put some pressure on Rueda but he doesn’t need it. I have no doubt that he is teaching James a lesson on humbleness but Rueda knows James still in asset to Colombia’s national team. If James is able to stay in form and play some footy (with whatever team he ends up this season) then Rueda will call him again.
