Computer games.

I preordered a series S on amazon no sweat and they don't take money until they dispatch it.
I did the same... not planning on getting rid of the Xbox One S, but I have a fairly big digital collection I can play on the Series S. I'll probably just set up the XB1 in the spare room, where gaming doesn't get in the way of Bake Off, etc. It was mad seeing the trouble the Series X caused yesterday, and the All Access thing Game and Smyths were supposed to be doing for both consoles seemed to be an utter disaster. Pity for the people who went through all the credit checks etc. for nothing.

Picked up Death Stranding on PC out of pure boredom and...

Just over 4 hours in and I've had control of the character for less than 45 minutes.

The thing with Konami is, they may be an awful company, but they kept at least some of the reigns on Kojima on MGS5 to stop him going full Kojima on the cut scenes. But this, jesus, it's relentless. And it's all nonsense as well. The forced exposition, ridiculous character names and general silliness are jarring and massively outdated. Sam Porter Bridges (because he's a porter and he connects people like a bridge, get it?) , Heartman (because his heart keeps stopping, get it?), Die-Hardman (because he can come back to life after death, get it?), Fragile (because she has the body of a frail old woman, get it?) GET IT!?

And that bloody phone codec alarm... you cant walk 2 feet without another one of the zany cast of characters phoning you to spew another 20 minutes of indecipherable nonsense at you. I'm sure Kojima thinks all this is deep and profound , but it's like sifting through some poorly translated anime script written by David Icke.

'koff Kojima.

That's my impressions so far. I'll let you know if the game is any good if it actually lets me play for more than 15 bloody minutes at a time...
Got about 11/12 hours in and I think I'm going to swerve it for now.
There was a moment early game where it's all very chill, and you spend a couple of missions traversing the hills, plotting routes and using tools to get around. Always nice to find ladders and that left by other players, but sadly that moment was fleeting as the game constantly shoehorns you into awful combat encounters and tedious stealth sections.

The bike, oh the bike, that cant get over 2 inch high rocks wins the award for the most frustrating game vehicle ever.

Maybe I'll come back to it at some point, but found it irritating to play. I did want to like it, but I just has too much going against it for me.

On the other hand, Wasteland 3 if on Games Pass and it's very very good if you're looking for some slow paced, turn based rpg action in the style of the old Fallout games.

Kojima is arguably the GOAT at developing boss fights. His ideas for games mostly work as well. The writing tho, why any company lets him in charge of writing dialogue and plot is insane. Even the worst MGS fan fiction is better than the drivel he produces.

As I said earlier - I loved the Metal Gear franchise, but that was supposed to be a bit kooky, so he could get away with some of the more ridiculous elements of his stories.

He plays DS straight faced though and that makes it even more ridiculous. It feels like a bad translation at times. I know his English isn't the best, so maybe some of the ridiculous names etc. work in the Japanese version, or is it just pure ego on his behalf?
Did nobody tell him that some of the character names and concepts sound like first year drama student material? Ort is this the whole George Lucas and the prequel trilogy syndrome where his staff are too in awe of him to stop him?
