Computer games.

"FIFA 21 also featured a downgraded version for PC gamers, something which executive producer Aaron McHardy explained was because FIFA players who were also PC gamers didn't tend to have the most advanced gaming rigs."

LOL

Just double-checked the last EA game I bought new, and it was indeed Dragon Age: Origins in 2009.

So I've accidentally boycotted them over the years anyway.

You and me both except for FIFA. Been buying those now and then to play with the kids.

Sad thing really, they used to be awesome when I was a kid.

I've managed to get a few free games now by selling my trading cards, most I've sold one for is £1 the rest are all below 10p currently sitting on 99p so hopefully get an indie game on sale soon.

finally got round to Alyx on VR (Rift S with gtx-980ti)...HOLY FRAKKIN MOLY!!!

tommy, you're the only one in this entire thread who's mentioned playing Alyx...is it still that niche? all those years waiting for a Half-Life game and there's barely anyone playing it lol it's incredible...truly next-level...it's at least as great a leap as going from 2D-to-3D gaming was.

am up to the 4th chapter, playing on full immersion: continuous movement...got used to it pretty quickly, but a big no-no is combining it with alcohol...yikes.

gonna have to dust down Elite Dangerous now.

Boss isn't it mate!
I think VR just isn't that accessible to the masses yet.
With you on the booze thing haha, I don't suffer with motion sickness usually but decided to play some Population One after a skin full the other day, bad move...

Steam Deck looks pretty cool. I’ve not had a handheld since the Gameboy Advance, but this with its ability to play your PC games on the move is pretty enticing.

Meh I dunno - well priced for the spec, but the analog stick placement looks odd to me, as do the wide right positioning of the buttons, and controlling PC games with a touchpad is... awful, to be blunt.

I'm always wary of unupgradable PC tech. Plus, I dunno, I just prefer my PC games at a PC. It feels the 'on the go' gaming market is already covered by Nintendo.

I didn’t even see the touch pads. It looks like a Sega Game Gear to me.

Unupgradable is a good point. You’d imagine at some point they’d stop being able to run certain games and you may be left with obsolete tech. It’s similar to traditional consoles in that sense.

And here's the list to cement my nerdiness - everyone feel free to take the mick. lol

1. Final Fantasy VII (PS1)
Chrono Trigger (SNES/DS)
Rimworld (PC)
Shadowrun (Mega Drive)
Escape From Monkey Island (PC)
World of Warcraft (PC)
Pokémon (Most of them) (GB/GBA/Switch)
Dungeon Keeper II (PC)
Championship Manager 97/98 (PC)
Crash Team Racing (PS1)

CM 97/98. Easily the best football game ever. Is right lad!

Oh, and Diablo 2 is probably my number one.

Sort of, but at least with my PS2 I always know PS2 games will run on it - with outmoded PC tech you just never know as there's no dividing line, unless Valve put "Steam Deck Compatible" on every title that definitely is that runs to a set standard.

True. Although they seem pretty confident in their claim that it’ll run the latest AAA games. I think people some who perhaps can’t afford a full PC set up and/or maybe have a PS5/Xbox will get one.
