Computer games.

I ended u[p getting starwars squadrons and Ghostrunner off cdkeys for 59p each, can't pass a bargain like that up. While I was there I also purchased Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire and finally got Persona 4 gold. Thought Persona would be the one I got stuck into but POE is very good and not incredibly difficult right at the start like others in that genre.

I am quite deep into ELEX at the minute as well, had it for a while without playing, it's a bit like Skyrim really. Fairly grindy at the start you don't level up particularly quick and can be a while before you can use better weapons and armour, It's pretty decent though if you like RPGs in that style.

I played 12 Minutes the other day and really enjoyed it. Quite short and pretty much devoid of any instructions, it's a case of working it out for yourself. James Macavoy, Daisy Ridley and William Dafoe voice the three characters, it's a really interesting time-loop mystery/thriller. Wish there were more games like it.

2042 not too promising

Does that guy know what he's talking about? Must be 100s of these Teds queuing up to offer a contrarian opinion on big game launches.

I don't play fps' but my son is very excited about this release. Was giving me some teenage maths today about saving £120, if I bought him battlefield 2,3 and 4 for a tenner (think there's an offer on)

Buggy, ropey performance even on decent hardware , bots in multiplayer... its not great, rather just play BF3 and BF4. Battlefield betas are usually janky as hell though
I mean, thats what a beta is supposed to do. Stress test to find the final raft of bugs (that may or may not get addressed).

It isn't supposed to be a smooth perfect launch preview. A lot of people seem to lose sight of what beta's are for.

Originally that's what they were for, yeah. Yet surely you know betas at this point, by major publishers like EA, are really just a publicity and monetisation opportunity? Even encouraging pre-ordering for even earlier beta access. These games don't change much from betas, unless they get delayed.

Yes?
If you had watched the video you are complaining about, the guy explains a ton of great things from the previous Battlefield games are missing and have been replaced by systems that contribute to worse gameplay. But the main point is that its in bad shape, technically. So bad he thinks it needs to be delayed to give them opportunity to fix things.

Correct. They used to have to pay people to beta test their games. Then they figured out dumb gamers would PAY THEM to play their beta's........

Still, I wouldn't base my opinion on the game based on how many bugs are in the beta. Leave that until release day.

Oh, and its Electonic "Sense of pride and accomplishment" Arts who are publishing the game.

Nah, Beta's in an old school way used to be around 12 months out from release - this isn't a Beta for BF2042, because it's out next month - instead it's a pre-release demo. There's simply not enough time to change anything from 'Beta' to release.

So yes, in theory a Beta this late in development would stress test servers etc... but on the understanding that they've already got it right. Issues of that magnitude now can't realistically be fixed before it goes 'Gold' or in a day one patch.

People should have learned by now not to buy any major game on release day.

Pfft! I'd already have given Sony my money for the new God of War and HZD if I could have.

I do agree with your sentiments though, I'm still trying to convince myself that the pre-order for Cyberpunk 2077 was worthwhile.

Looks like Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition will be £70 on release, can’t wait for it to come out.

Does feel like a sweetener because GTA 6 is still a few years away though.

First 15 levels of New World have zipped by. It's kinda like a flashy RuneScape but I'm enjoying the less grindy pace of over MMORPG's - never thought I wouldn't complain about spending an hour chopping down trees and herb collecting. The graphics are gorgeous even without a 1440p monitor with a lovely soundtrack. Mechanics can highlight a large skill gap already but I haven't tried any PvP yet.
