Computer games.

First 15 levels of New World have zipped by. It's kinda like a flashy RuneScape but I'm enjoying the less grindy pace of over MMORPG's - never thought I wouldn't complain about spending an hour chopping down trees and herb collecting. The graphics are gorgeous even without a 1440p monitor with a lovely soundtrack. Mechanics can highlight a large skill gap already but I haven't tried any PvP yet.

That sounds interesting. Hear a lot of buzz about it, might have to check it out. The Runescape grind was off the charts.

Yeh I'm a native WoW player so you can fish, mine etc. on that too but not to this level. The crafting is a huge part of it; your bags are full of crap but the weight slows you down or makes fast travel (limited) cost more etc. I'm really enjoying it but early days; I've heard end game is a bit minimal right now understandably. No class restrictions is really cool; you get free resets on stats/weapon perks till level 20 so you can try loads of combos out early game.

Nah, Beta's in an old school way used to be around 12 months out from release - this isn't a Beta for BF2042, because it's out next month - instead it's a pre-release demo. There's simply not enough time to change anything from 'Beta' to release.

So yes, in theory a Beta this late in development would stress test servers etc... but on the understanding that they've already got it right. Issues of that magnitude now can't realistically be fixed before it goes 'Gold' or in a day one patch.

People should have learned by now not to buy any major game on release day.

Yep - I'm not as keen a gamer as I used to be so can comfortably wait for GOTY Editions of the big releases. It's normally in decent shape by then unless it's an absolute howler of a release in which case it's not something I'm gonna buy.

Looks like Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition will be £70 on release, can’t wait for it to come out.

Does feel like a sweetener because GTA 6 is still a few years away though.
I forgot about this. I wonder how much of an improvement they will make besides the obvious graphics enhancements.

I think GTA3 is stil my favourite of all time. The step up compared to the previous game blew my mind back then.

Think I remember vice city the fondest. The setting and the music were awesome.
I was a big fan of the original top down games. In those days the only way to find out about new games was through magazines etc. I vividly remember picking up the Official PlayStation magazine from a newsagents as a 13 year old, and being overwhelmed with excitement at the idea of a 3D GTA.

When it arrived it exceeded every expectation. It’s just one of those games that, for me, defined a new generation of gaming.

I can’t wait to see what they do with it this time. I hope I’m not disappointed so I’m trying to keep my expectations low.

I always say Sam Andreas is my favourite, but Vice City is there or thereabouts as well. Don’t remember GTA III much, but it did come out when I was 3 that’ll be why?

Just played pro evo and not sure why it's getting so much hate. It is an e-sports game so has no assists like FIFA, which to me always feels like you're not actually controlling the players.

Apart from the bugs that people have mentioned and the awful commentary/stadium announcements, it seems a very good football game.

Finished the story of Death Stranding today after doing the Director's Cut PS5 upgrade for £5 (had PS4 disk version before but didn't play it). Have to say its a brilliant, misunderstood game. Very high fantasy/sci-fi and story rich so if you don't like lore or single player open-world RPGs don't bother. I loved it and now going for the platinum trophy which is fair a bit of work but doable.

Playing this regularly since 2015, its been fantastic to see it get so much recognition this year. I even played the beta of the re-launch in 2013 but it didn't really grab me untill the first expansion came out. Definitely one of gaming's best redemption stories, and a testament to what developers can do if they are properly backed instead of dropped like what happened to e.g. Anthem.

That company needs to thank Blizzard for all this. Those numbers would be a lot smaller if WoW end game didn’t go stale so fast.

I really enjoyed my time with Death Stranding. Found the gameplay immersive and interesting, but the story was pure bunkum to me.

I also wish there was an option after you'd finished the game to turn off the BT's so you can just explore freely at your own pace.

Arsed having my stuff lashed all over the map by some sludge monster every 3 minutes
