Computer games.

Need to bin reviewers that use 5 stars. Use 100% so they actually mean something. 4 out of 5 is 80% which is a below average game and some aren't using partial stars. Makes reading reviews more pointless than normal.
The fact that 80% indicates average shows that even using percentage as a review rating is pretty pointless - 90% would indicate an excellent game but 10% less is merely average? Seems strange to use a scoring system of 1-100 if only genuinely poor games dip below 80.

Regardless I'm always gonna prefer an 80% or 4/5 game in a genre I like to a 93% game in a genre I don't get on with. I think if you read or listen to a review then the scoring system doesn't matter too much. You'll get the gist of whether it's for you or not.

Not watched this specific review but that guy reviewing is a complete helmet, proper sad angry middle aged man who goes on massive rants about SJWs, Feminism etc. He’s probably one of the most unlikeable aand grimmest youtubers going once you actually realise how grim his views on life are. Funniest thing is he dishes out criticism all the time but then has mental breakdowns when people criticise him and starts deleting all their comments and making angry videos about his haters etc. He’s a proper weirdo and a massive snowflake which is ironic because he loves to call everyone else snowflakes.
I agree hes an awful person, but i have found some of his reviews bang on... But i should prob stop giving him clicks as he is such a berk

I'm crap at games and about to start Elden Ring tonight

I'll let people know if it's worth it or not!
My pre order isn't turning up until Tuesday or later. They've gave me a £1.50 discount on the price.

It will be a tough game. The only From Software game I've finished was Bloodborne and that took me about 80 hours.

The reviews I read have actually come out and said about the ratings system being flawed as it means people draw their conclusion from the score rather than the review itself.

However just you saying 80% is below average, by their logic it isn't, it's a great game. In fact even a 6/10 game from them is enjoyable , just flawed. They very rarely give out 10 so most games will fall into the 7-9 (depending on their quality)

We should not consider games as singular things, good or bad. I am sure I am not the only person who has enjoyed a game that is not necessarily highly rated. A great game can have flaws! I'm playing mass effect currently and despite loving it as much as I did 15 years ago , I can rip it apart now ?

Elden Ring update

I finally got into the packaging (Huzzah!) - First impressions are that it seems considerably easier than either Dark Souls 1 or Bloodborne (the only 2 other games I've tried)

It's still bloody nails - but the ability to go wandering seems to alleviate the feeling of frustration that the other games had

I guess I just miss the old school reviews of the magazines where they'd break it down out of 100 in each category then make the average the full rating.

Thats what im trying to work out before buying, was hoping g open world would mean you could level up doing fun stuff then go back to harder bosses...
I think this is the case - played it some more today and it's really easy to move around the world, go somewhere different if one area is too hard. Evading mobs is very easy in the open. They've also made jumping and falling miles more forgiving.

The first real Boss is very hard, though - Margit the Fell. Going to be a proper qualifier for a lot of players (I beat him after many attempts using the imp spirit).

You can always summon help for it, the beauty of Souls - but in this case hope you get someone good.
