Computer games.

ha i just got a ps1 too...am collecting old cult titles i missed back in the 90's...so far Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve and a platformer called Wild 9.
Any of the suikoden or breath of fire rpgs are boss. Pretty expensive to get physical copies of though. Silent hill was great on it as well.

A lot of games haven't aged well, so I'll recommend some that I think have, as well as slightly less.common games

Parasite Eve 2

You will have to adjust to old Resident Evil style Tank Controls, but once you do this game is a proper survival horror experience.
No need to have played the first game, story is easy enough to follow.

CastleVania Symphony of the Night

Some think this is the best of the castlevania, it's open world and still looks great. Controls are spot on it's very hard but feels fair, similar to the diffelculty of Dark Souls.

Chrono Cross

This is a must, it's a classic JRPG a sequel to the SNES classic Chrono Trigger.
I liked this just as much as Final Fantasy VII back in the day.
Encaptivating storyline, endearing characters and an amazing soundtrack on par with Final Fantasy VII.

This game hasn't been released on any other platforms, so PS1 is the only place to play it.

This game is in my top 3-5 favourite games of all time it's so much fun, and a real time sink.
Great selection

Ok have to ask.. and yes I know its your kids game but if you are like me and still a kid you might play.
Minecraft

I have debated making this a separate thread owing to the conversation levels that can go around it.
Been playing almost nightly since November last year.. Started a new world in April or so which is growing. Have killed the dragon, got my Elytra now its about creating a world.
Curious other players out there.. builds.. redstoners? I've got a lot better at builds but cannot do an interior for the life of me.
Anyone.... Anyone??

i briefly had Suikoden V on the PS2 earlier this year, went through the first hour then sold it for a whopping €50.

Silent Hill 1 is about as expensive, tho' i completed that back in the late-90's. Was my all-time favourite horror until finally Amnesia: Dark Descent dethroned it. The final scene was harrowing for me, as i guess i got the bad ending: no ammo, just
an iron bar left to batter the possessed policewoman to death with
...which took ages! Will never forget that.

Amazing soundtrack too, for any Sonic Youth fans the climax of this track always reminded me of Silent Hill monsters-nearby music:

Silent Hill 2, along with other legendary PS2-era horror sequels Project Zero/Fatal Frame 2 and Forbidden Siren 2, are on my must-play-before-i-die list.

Fantastic game. Not so sure how well it's held up, to be honest.

i completed that too back when it came out...lost my mind when this happened!

think i had something like ISS Pro, Tekken & Final Fantasy saves at the time. Was racking my brains figuring out how they programmed that little trick lol don't think he named all of them explicitly, but identified them in some oblique way.

For all the games that should have been remastered it's Metal Gear Solid. I want it exactly the same in every way except a graphics update.

did you ever go through the others? i'd like to try at least one of 2, 3, 4 or 5 (Phantom Pain) if time permits...not arsed about latest graphics. online elsewhere tends to name MGS2 as the best in the series.

Played them all but nothing beats the first. I've replayed it often on my PS1 but still would love to see it with modern graphics.

I have it installed and have been meaning to start a new game these last few days. I like that and Terraria which is basically a 2d minecraft with many rpg elements. I haven't got too far in MC yet as I concentrated on Terraria then stardew valley.

My build was basically cut out of a mountain to start with. I also have Valheim waiting in the wings and Core Keeper both still in early access, similar type games. I think I will fire minecraft up tomorrow actually.

I still feel Derby Day sick whenever I hear that 'alarm' alert sound.

Played them all, Id say the first 2 are the best storyline.

The others are all good (as you'd expect) but with 5 they've taken the cutscenes to the extreme. Sometimes feels as though you have 10 minutes of play for every 30 min cutscene.

MGS could definitely do with a remaster. I forget if it's in 4 or 5 but Snake has a dream sequence that is a playable section from the offshore platform in MGS. It looks incredibly bad lol

*shudders*

that's a no from me then. Half-Life showed how to do interactive story but most games still prefer to stop the gameplay and show you a movie clip.
