Computer games.

Gaming PC nerds required:

It's been many, many years since I built mine and I'm well out-of-date in the market. My mate is looking to get into PC gaming and mostly plays CoD WZ, FIFA etc. He's said about £750 max for a pre-built system excluding peripherals. Can anyone find any good deals that might be his end? He won't need top end stuff to do those things. Was thinking CyberPower etc.

Appreciate any help.

There's a ton of value to be had on ebay. Stick 'gaming pc computer' into the search with his postcode selected to nearest first in the auctions. When he/you find one, send me the link. ;)

Aliens: Dark Descent

Running on a PS4 Pro - Strategy survival shooter. A lot of fun and it pays homage not only to the first two movies (The ones that ONLY matter of course) but also references the quite genius Alien Isolation as well.

Nice clean visuals, cracking soundtrack and a great use of the franchise to create a tense, exciting space horror experience.

Agreed, if you want a brand new pc with a good spec and have about 1500-2000 as a budget pcspecialist are excellent, but it’s definitely best to check eBay with a 750 budget (not least as a lot of people will unwittingly underprice pretty good rigs on ebay)

Do you recommend it? I have FM 23. Is it worth upgrading to FM 24?
From what I've seen of streamers etc who've got hold of the Alpha, it looks like there's some really good new features, especially around tactics/set pieces, and the 3d match engine. Ofcourse, next year is going to be the big one, moving to the new engine, so poss depends if you want to buy 3 yrs in a row.

Of course, it may be that next years is a good one to miss/wait on whilst they get used to/sort out the new engine/all the big changes that look like will happen.

Late to this but you'll really struggle to get a gaming PC that's futureproofed for a few years at that budget. For that price you'd be as well buying a PS5 for the games he wants to play, you'll get way more out of it. A gaming PC for £750 won't be able to play any of those games at as good quality as a PS5 (it would struggle on high quality for sure).

If you're going to get a gaming PC, you may aswell get one that will have you futureproofed for years to come. You'd be looking at least £1200+ for something like that, otherwise as I say the next gen consoles are better value.

The new Alan Wake game is released on Friday and the minimum PC specs are mental. A £500 graphics card required to run ray tracing seems completely bonkers. I have a 3070 and seems like it's going to be medium settings only for me.

Recommended (No ray tracing)

  • Resolution: 1440p
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 3060 / Radeon RX 6600 XT
  • VRAM: 8 GB
  • DLSS/FSR 2: Balanced
  • CPU: Ryzen 3700X or i7 10700
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Storage: 90 GB SSD
Recommended (Ray tracing)

  • Resolution: 1080p
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 4070
  • VRAM: 12 GB
  • DLSS/FSR 2: Quality
  • CPU: Ryzen 3700X or i7 10700
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Storage: 90 GB SSD

RTX 4070 being a recommended requirement is absolutely mental. To be fair Cyberpunk’s new ones are similar, and my 3080 can run it with raytracing on fine
