web based game, flash player, early 2000's, bloke character, brown hair, used swords. side on rpg type display. It's not a lot of clues really is it.This is going to be the longest of long shots but you just never know. Basically just woken up from a dream and in that dream I was discussing online PC games we used to play at school in the early/mid 2000’s so have been trying to hunt them down. So far I’ve found Neopets. One more eludes me…
Basically all I remember was that it was a game you accessed through a website as we could play it on school computers. Your character was (or at least mine was) a male human, maybe brown hair, fighter and you basically did little boss levels and killed stuff to get better swords and items etc. From memory the viewpoint was side on, sort of Street Fighter but on a slight angle.
I have been googling for an hour and getting nowhere. I swear this game existed. If you’re in your 30’s, HELP.
Edit: and it wasn’t RuneScape.

Firstly you'd better.I love you so much.
It’s there.
Adventure Quest!!!
Firstly you'd better.
Secondly, that took 10 minutes. And you spent over an hours searching? 'read words 7-10' indeed. bloody millenials or whatever this less-modern incarnation is.
I mean, I am taking you 1-100 against on Google Fu.Firstly you'd better.

I loved it, the ammo side of things takes a small bit of strategy to ensure you don't run out. But as the game progresses and it gets manic, expect to be hitting continue quite a few times.Had a go of Doom Eternal today.
Was really looking forward to it after enjoying the 2016 reboot but it's like the two games aren't related.
I don't know but it felt like Duke Nukem and looked like crap.
Also odd that I can't melee even the weakest mobs to death.
It gets one more play and then I might bin it.
Swords and Sandals? This is going to be the longest of long shots but you just never know. Fo4 unfortunately reaches an end, and there's little point in carrying on.I can’t believe I’m so late to this game… I don’t want to say yet it’s my favourite of the genre but man it’s definitely pushing my loyalty to a Skyrim pretty far.. I can see being immersed into this world far longer than any of the others.
All other open world games I move on once I’ve done the main story arc… this feels different .. I feel the main arc is literally living in the world. I think cos I’m a Minecraft addict it also hits on that world building side I really enjoy! If only I had a morsel of real talent for it.
Saying that I’m about to make the call: do I side with the raiders in Nuka World or do I wipe them all out? Let me just say I’m googling which is the best companion to help me wipe them all out!
Played skyrim and the fallout games to death, except for 76. Is it worth a try, is it multiplayer only? Sure I remember it getting a bit of stick when it was released, assume patches etc. have cleared everything up...Fo4 unfortunately reaches an end, and there's little point in carrying on.
Fo76 however continues on and on.. I finished the game and got to about level 70.
Daily I saw many many players in the levels of 100's and 1000's.. several times I saw players of level 6-7000!!! God knows how long they've been doing the dailies for!!
