Computer games.

Almost 20 years later and i still find good old Pro Evolution 5 as most fun football game, personal opinion of course.

These days player cards and gambling with them seems more important than actual gameplay on the pitch. Of course EA are smart and raking millions on it.
Exactly. PES 5 or 6 - I can't remember anymore - was the peak. I used to play on the PS, but for that edition the PC was where it was at with all the editable modules and stadia that people could create giving you total control over modes, etc. If I wanted to play a World Cup in Spain, I could do that. Have Italy play Cameroon at the Balaidos in Vigo? No problem. Have the players use a Tango? There you go. Make Italy AI? That's fine. Nowadays, I am forced into whatever mode EA restrict me to with all the marketing blather of the modern game and have to almost hack the game to play every match of a tournament agaist the computer. Play the Bundesliga? That's fine, but for rights reasons we no longer have the Allianz Arena despite having actual likenesses of thousands of real players and charging you an arm and a leg for the pleasure. Play at a generic stadium instead. Um, no. Uncanny Valley time destroying the immersion.

I gave up EA games years ago for these reasons. You are exactly right: it's all about Ultimate Team and other shady money-making wheezes now. I wouldn't let my 11 year-old near it.

I'm greatly enjoying Assassin's Creed Mirage right now. The stealth stuff means a bit of brain pays dividends. I'm too old for pure beat-em-ups...

Destiny's first 'saga' came to an end last week. Bit like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it basically had it's 'Endgame' moment after an overarching story that's spanned the last 10 years since the first game came out in 2014. Quite the experience.

Finished the campaign yesterday, solo on legendary difficulty. Was painfully challenging at times, thus more rewarding when beating especially the final boss. It might just be the best story they've ever done!

I actually found the legendary campaign not as tricky as I was anticipating.. maybe because I did both Witch Queen & Lightfall on legendary too so maybe used to it by now 🤷‍♂️ but yeah the final boss easily the most difficult part trying to figure out the mechanics whilst staying alive.

Also agree with it being the best campaign they've done, certainly from a narrative standpoint.

1 week 'til Shadow of the Erdtree!

I'm away that weekend so may only get a chance to play it on the Thursday, then have to wait until Monday after to play again.
Looks amazing though. I reinstalled Elden Ring a few weeks back to get myself warmed up and just beat Mohg today so I am ready for when it releases.
Will probably respec my character to a new build though, not sure to what. I always seem to end up as some sort of strength + pryomancer style build, so may go the opposite and try a dex based build. Magic or blood magic as support, not decided yet.
