It's based more on a feeling of nostalgia rather than any sort of logic. The game will probably end up being crap anyway.
There is something great about buying a game on Amazon and finding it waiting for you when you come in from work on a Friday evening

Or setting it off downloading in a morning before work and its 100% complete when you get back.
You do risk setting the house on fire though if house is left unattended.

Basically would you reccomend Mortal Kombat as a purchase as i'm considering trading some older stuff in for it?

Going to buy a PS3 today/tomorrow. PS4 sat here gathering dust because there's no games. Never got to play some classics as i was a 360 user so looking forward to it.

The only games I have bought new in the last 5 years are the FIFAs and GTA V. Everything else I have picked up on sale after it has been out a year or two for less than half-price. I haven't bothered to make the switch from PS3 to PS4 because there is a huge catalogue of games I haven't got around to playing and I can't be bothered to start paying a monthly fee for internet access.
That's known as a "vertical slice" - basically, the game will most likely look nothing like that on completion.
