Many forget they reached the quarterfinals just like England in the 2002 World Cup in Korea. On the way beating Portugal 2-1 the tournament favorites and only losing to Germany 1-0 scored by a certain Chelski player named Michael Ballack.

Yeah, with Frings handling the ball on the line (red and pk) but no call.

Good times, good times.

Yeah Torsten Frings what a tosser. We were dominating play at the time. Maybe it's just me but I still don't believe our team this year looks as good as that one did in 2002. I hope I'm proved wrong but the Coata Rica and Hondurus games did my head in.:(

First time we ever played them.

In our first ever world cup.

1950.

Beat us 1-0.

Our newspapers thought it was a misprint and reported that we won 10-1

And I seem to remember Alexis Lalas popping up at a corner in the 90s when they beat us. The papers made him out to be a part-timer that earnt money busking or something.... Obvious rubbish.

RSA winning 2 nil. Just switched it on, did Pies score/assist?

Pienaar was AZE! he bossed the midfield totally. My Motm.

He didn't even play that well by his standards, and he was still the best player on the pitch by an embarassing distance.

Really strange competition this. Only 8 teams, and 5 of them are somewhere between poor and bloody awful. It's basically an excuse to have a Brazil Spain game that means slightly more than a friendly. Italy, don't you DARE muck that up.

Welll Iraq pulled the upset in the Asian Cup (Plus they aren't a bad team either) and SA is the host so its a little watered down this time. There are 5 good teams, just all stuck in one group the US, Italy, Egypt, Spain group one of the toughest groups of all time.
