Ferguson finished in the bottom half in three of his first four seasons. Moyes's second full season we finished 17th. It's ridiculous to consider "proving himself" applies to only one season. If we're in a relegation battle all season then maybe we should re-assess, but if we finished 11th/12th next year, whilst obviously very disappointing, it would be unwise to get rid.

He deserves two full seasons to show what he can do. Part of the reason he's here, I'm sure, is that the last eleven years have given the club the image of stability, one that will stick by their manager. If we sack a guy at Christmas, combined with our financial limitations, who, exactly, is going to want to come in?
 

The difference is Moyes turned it around, I would not have faith in Martinez to do so. Also for his first few seasons, we generally started seasons well under Moyes and tailed off.

To be honest pat. You could argue he also has a relegation on his CV too, something else Moyes doesn't have.
