Confirmed: Martinez New Everton Manager - All Reaction Here

Just watched the press conference (minus most of Bill's waffle as he makes me cringe sometimes) and Martinez comes across very well. I wish him the best of luck and am so relieved we didn't end up with an O'Neil or Lennon that'd make me ignore the club during their employment.

That's the best thing about twitter, it keeps the hands of people like that occupied preventing them from stabbing themselves in the face and costing the NHS a fortune.

I'll give him until Christmas. If we're in the bottom half of the table at that time, I'd expect him to be sacked as it'd be clear we'd made the wrong call.

If he finishes outside the top ten in his first season, I'd expect him to be sacked.

He's not a big name manager, therefore he has to prove himself, and if he doesn't he's out the door IMO. Everton should not be the safest job in world football just because we're a "nice club".

Patience, yes, but not stupidity. He's taking over a top six club. If he doesn't at the very least maintain that stature 18 months from now, he should be out the door.

Can't agree.

If the play is better or even simply evolving from what Kevin Campbell says "their shackles" it would be a nonsense to sack a new manager after circa 20 games.

With perhaps youth/new players bedding in their potential barely introduced the odds are it will be worse before it gets better - no matter who the name is.

He's going to need a period of getting to grips with the job and putting his ideas in place mate. It's not like when Moyes took it where avoiding relegation would be an instant success and generate goodwill, the club is in a good position for it's financial position (even if in a not great position for it's history and expectation) so it will be hard for him to make progress that Moyes struggled to. Even maintaining Moyes consistency in his first year would be a major success.

Unless were flirting with relegation and all over the place then sacking him by Christmas would be ludicrous.

Whoah! What's happened to GOT?

logs off*

provided we don't wholesale sell the squad and bring in inferior players we stay clear of major injuries we should be aiming top 6 by christmas.

lower only if significant issues.

but now hes at a bigger club the market for roberto is bigger. so see who he signs to add to the current squad.
