Looking at that photo of Martinez with the FA Cup at DW stadium, look how empty the ground is!! That would never happen here, Martinez is gonna be impressed with our massive support.

As a said “negative” person (I’d say realist) I will put some positive things. I think it is absolutely correct we all get behind Martinez. And aside from a relegation battle, he should be given the first season as a write off.

He seems like a down to earth, calm and positive person. I think much of the same qualities Moyes had, especially a young Moyes. He will be grateful for the opportunity, and respectful of the club, not using as a stepping stone like say Laudrup would.

He is a young man. Whatever you think of his achievements, or lack of so far, he is 39, he has a lot of learning to do. If he can learn from what has gone wrong, he is a good age to continue to build a legacy.

I like how positive he is, but he will have to temper this with results, if we get hammered and he’s too positive it will annoy people.

He has brought through some young players. He will have a greater quality of young player now, and hopefully he can bring them through.

If he continues to play attacking football, while not tinkering with the defence too much, and tries to introduce some of the younger players, he will get given more time. He might well be the man to take Vic to the next level, and get the best out of Jelavic.

Finally, he won’t moan about budget constraints. I know people see this as a weakness of Moyes (and possibly Martinez). However as a guy who’s sceptical of our board, I have to say I am against the idea that the manager should be leading a revolt against them. It won’t help performances. I think Martinez will try and be positive and get on with things.

Not my number 1 choice by any means. But he is a safe choice. Yes arguably under whelmed, but it could have been worse. He will have my support, hopefully he can pick up some good signings, and try to get us to crack the top 4 again.

Do we know if he is bringing any staff with him? I think the back room staff is one of the most underrated part of a clubs success.

Roberto's been allowed to bring his entire backroom staff from Wigan. Compensation agreed for them too. At the same time sacking Stubbs, Ferguson, Weir, Round, Lumsden, Woods and Holden apparently most were out of contract, due to having the same date as Moyes.

Manager: Roberto Martinez (former Wigan player)
Assistant: Graeme Jones (former Wigan player)
First team coach: Graham Barrow (former Wigan player and manager)
Youth team coach: John Doolan (former Wigan player)
U21 coach: Dennis Lawrence (former Wrexham player)
Goalkeeping coach: Iñaki Bergara
Chief Scout: Kevin Reeves

4 of which were Wigan players from their League Two days.
