It's a big no from me. I've met some decent Aussies in the past. But it's too far and too hot and doesn't have the landscapes and culture I like to experience on holiday. I'm also absolutely terrified of spiders.

Then, for some bizarre reason, refer to us back here as the colonists.
Any understanding of Australian history between 1788 & 1901?

Do you know how the Caucasian population of Australia grew in those years? You are aware there were no white people here before 1788? Do you know where the majority came from by the beginning of the twentieth century & why they came here?

I am not inferring that colonisation has been either right or wrong, just wondering what you actually understand based upon your previous comment.

Don't believe all this spider snake rubbish, I've been here 13 yrs and I've seen 3 snakes...only 1 was a killer...and the odd little spider, gave them bit of space/clearance like you would a patch of nettles...it's your own fault if you stick your arm in it...it's nettles ffs, swerve.

How many people died in Australia a year from spider bites?

Australia has about 2,000 species of spider, but most are relatively harmless to humans. Venomous spiders in Australia include funnel-web, mouse, redback and white-tailed spiders. Since 1979 and the introduction of antivenom, there have been no recorded deaths in Australia from a confirmed spider bite

The point I was making is that the Aussies of UK descent over there are the colonisers moreso than the average UK citizen that have remained in the UK.

Mate, I'm not bothered about how venomous they are. I'm petrified of spiders in the uk.

Believe it or not, it does have very diverse landscapes - rainforest, ski fields, rolling green hills, etc. The vast majority of the interior is arid - the outback.

The heat in summer can be stifling - dry heat in the south, tropical in the north. Winter around the coastal areas is fairly moderate by European standards, the southern states & cities get the coldest, the interior also gets very cold in winter.

There are some nasty creatures, but serious injuries & deaths are not as common as many think.

Plenty of idiots here like everywhere else, but for the most part Australia is a great place.

I appreciate this. And large areas of Aus do look stunning. But I'd be flying over the Alps, Caucases, Himalayas etc which are far more my cup of tea. I could also get all the above far closer to to home.
