Two of my roommates at W & M were from Winchester. Got to head back there one weekend for the Apple Blossom Festival. Some good memoriesyeah! problem is that outside Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown the panhandle of WV is pretty poor whitetrashy. Incidentally when WV seceded from VA as per the earlier posts the pan handle of WV was created because Virginia wanted to hold on to the town of Winchester which is probably the biggest town in the Shenandoah Valley.
Amazing to see the Scottish-Irish influence here , with these Bluegrass musicians and dancers from 1960's North Carolina.
I LOVE Boone, but then I prefer the feel of college towns.I think Boone NC is actually nicer than Asheville but has way fewer amenities.
they were running dope like, nothing like the quantity of hoppers personal stash, but still...Does anyone know if Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper found the real America that they set out to look for in 'Easy Rider'?
Or does the movie just end with hillbillies blowing them away with a shotgun?
errr... UNC Ashville and AppState.I LOVE Boone, but then I prefer the feel of college towns.
Well except for the native population. History didn't begin with white men.The Lewis and Clark Expedition must have been amazing. Imaging seeing the whole of western side of the country untouched by man and still in it's natural beauty.
Frontier men... I would go love to go back and embark on a journey like that.
My only concern would be that in those days, even something as small as a paper cut is a freakin' death sentence!
Lol, yes of course... I mean as close to natural as can be.Well except for the native population. History didn't begin with white men.
errr... UNC Ashville and AppState.
I'd agree - theres not much to Boone thats not AppState but Asheville is so much more than UNC-A. Probably because UNC-A is more campus feeling and not embedded in the town centr - Interestingly Wilmington is a bigger town than both but the college just seems more centralAsheville is a town with a university, not a college town. UNC-A is too small to take over the town. 4-5K in a town of around 100K. Boone and AppState are probably the same size lol
unspoilt by man might have worked better.... just a suggestion...Lol, yes of course... I mean as close to natural as can be.
The Native Americans were good at keeping their impact on the natural ecosystem of the land to a minimal.
