Covid Passports and Testing etc

Sorry, I should have worded my previous post differently. I was not talking about breaking anti-discrimination laws, I was making the point that if I own a shop, I already have the right to refuse service to people and don't need to wait for a covid passport to come into effect in order to refuse service.
yup you can implement whatever policy you want

I was saying that monitoring your activities more heavily was one of the reasons that this is being introduced instead of the given reason of stopping disease.

I am worried that the government shouldn't have the power to arbitrarily create a barrier to you having your rights as a human being. As has been proven so far, this will be just the beginning, this is the start of social credits.
Ah ok. If the govt could be arsed checking on me, they would already know everything I buy, everywhere I go and that I am chatting to you on an internet forum.

I don't see how a covid passport could tell them anything they don't already have access to

I think they knew this already, to be honest I think it was poor to bring up discrimination when there are people facing prejudice and real problems which are far more serious then someone wants a beer.

Can you currently enter a shop or venue without the government being able to stop you if you have committed no crime? Yes. Can you do that after passports? No.

I don’t know if you know about china’s social credits, but give that a look, this is how it starts. That’s not the type of society I want to live in.

If the govt really wanted to prevent me entering a venue, yes, they already can. If you think they can't, then you are either naive or deluded. In some Australian towns, if you get barred from one pub, you get barred from them all. And it works, and it is enforced. Even without covid passports.

And I really don't think Johnson is trying to turn Britain into a communist state, so not sure why China is relevant

Exactly, if they really wanted to, they'd have to go out of their way to. Now it's removing all the effort on their part to the point where all they need to do is choose a name and you have no access to services, they're putting the obligation on the population to enforce their will rather than police. In those Australian towns, you'll need to actually do something to get barred, whereas with this, you have to not do something to get barred, your rights are being changed from implicit to conditional. Can't you see the principle of the thing? Aren't you a free person? By accepting these measures, you're admitting you're not...

China's morphed more to a facist state than a communist state now. But all governments would love a social credits system, its just implementing it that's the hard part. This is literally how social credits gets implemented, it's highly relevant.
