A balanced side helped a lot today- just need to have a dominant centre half who can win the first header out clear, because every long ball 99 percent C Palace won the first flick header on which caused us many problems - Only Robles commanded his area well after two iffy early moments - he had a very good game -cue Howard too return!

Much needed win. We dealt with their lumps/crosses into the box well and Robles came and caught a fair few which took the pressure off. Other than that save from Gayle in the first half I can't remember Robles making a meaningful save all game.

We played the counter attack well in the second half, just a shame McGeady is as frustrating as he is.

I was starting to forget that winning feeling!

Takes a bit more than some dire 1-0 win to relegation candidates to make me happy.

If we don't get raped next weekend then I'll be happy.
So if we play better and get beat by the odd goal then you will be happier than the 3 points we got today.

That was probably the most important 3 points of our season so far and you have to put aside how we won and grasp the 3 points and move on. Ugly wins happen every season and we have to grin and bear it and be content we get the 3 points. Our last half dozen games have been better than today in terms of quality but we didn't win any of them. Everything is not OK but we have 3 much needed points against a team that have won 4 on the bounce.

1_0 against Palace makes me very happy. If you look at it in a pessimistic way it shows how far we have fallen. But we are Evertonians we can see good in this, an ugly win without conceding could be what was needed at this time. I'm content tonight.

A couple of signings would keep the momentum up now.

Lololololol.

Seen some ppl here saying the ref was good, I thought he was Shiite, especially in the 2nd half when there were some blatant decisions he made against us.

Thought Barry was ok, but Besic was in the main great, and Stones is our best defender - the only one who doesn't seem to let the oppo just waltz thru the middle. Lukaku's hold up play was better, but still needs improvement, and he's so bad going up for headers! :o

Some very scrappy defending at times, was pinball in our 6yd box. Passing at the back was better, but nearly got ourselves in trouble a couple times still. Up front there seems to be a real reluctance to use the wings - Baines and Coleman don't seem to get forward as much, and often when they have it around halfway, no one is getting wide up the line for them. When we do get it out on the wings there seems to be hardly anyone attacking the box, or they spend ages passing it back and forth without crossing!

I'd agree if I thought we ever had a chance of going down but we don't, as gash as we are there are always going to be three teams worse than us this season.

Much better shape to the side especially second half, not pretty but effective.

Not the complete performance of course, plenty of areas for improvement still, but with better finishing by Lukaku late on and better decision making by McGeady late on we should have been comfortably out of sight.

Robles looking much more solid as was Jags and Stones. Excellent performance from Besic.

In front of a raucous Goodison next week we can give it a go. Time for Mirellas to perform and for Lukaku to continue scoring.

Fans in good voice today.

And be assuaged, Palace are far far worse than us. Absolutely zero quality in the centre of the park without Jedinak. Long ball to the back post...
