None of the wingers and fullbacks have been that good so far this season.
Solve this problem and we'll get going.

Baines has played some pretty nice stuff but his final delivery has been poor all season, coleman has created almost nothing, I was really expecting him to be a big threat for us this season and he does seem to be getting forwards but either he's not making the right runs or more likely he's not being found when he does. Mirralas who would be the one to play it in to him seems to prefer to cut in and then lose the ball.

It's hard in a lot of these games for them though. They're simply denied space to run into by two retreating backs of four. It's painful to watch Baines and Coleman checking back time after time when their game is to run at the opposition and get around them.

Wingers should be opening the space for the full backs. Pienaar and baines do still link up in my opinion. Just not as successfully as before.

We have always been a team that can not drive home an advantage - my older Brother remembers the Billy Bingham manger ship in one season we were nailed on favourites to win the title when it was 2pts for a win and in the last remaining fixtures had to play Carlisle United who got finally relegated, and got beat home and away in the run in for the title it cost us the title, I think the home game we were 2-0 up and still got beat!

Lost home game 2 3 (having led 2 nil at half time)in December. Got murdered 3-0 away Easter Monday hing got hard earned 0-0 on the Saturday away to Leeds which seemed to put us in strong position. Also lost away to Luton shortly after who were also relegated. Sigh. Yesterday reminded me of how we do often fluff our lines when the opportunities come our way.
Own opinion about yesterday.....anyone can and does drop points wherever. The lack of chances created and relative lack of urgency from the players was pretty depressing. I think we will do better next time out but until Mirallas, pienaar, Baines, Barkley, Osman Coleman and in last couple of games Lukaku have greater impact in terms of chances created and taken we will struggle to win. Draws are no good.

The ball is often played out to the wings, and absolutely nothing comes out of it. No one is irreplaceable, if the offer is right for Baines, I'd let him go.

Shocked to see that Mirallas doesn't even try to take on a man any more.

And no link up play for weeks on the wings between full backs and wide men.

Baines has arguably only had two great pieces of play all season, and they both came against West Ham. Aside from that he's been poor. I think his head has been turned and he'll be off in January, probably for 15m ("undisclosed"). He's respectfully keeping his mouth shut about it, but I think it's nailed on. Is Garbutt ready to challenge Oviedo for the left back slot?

Coleman needs to get himself back on form, and quickly. Not sure what's up with him tbh, but it can't help not having a regular starter ahead of him... Osman, Mirallas, Naismith...

I've actually noticed this since the very first game. I don't get it.

Had he been told not to?
Has his confidence to do it gone?
Something else?

But yet he comes out in an interview saying how he prefers Martinez because he likes his role more.

It all seems a little weird.

I'm not sure the reason but it's very disappointing. It just goes back to Coleman or McCarthy and then ends up being passed in triangles before ending up with a centre back or something.

Frustrating.

I think Davek might be the only person who watches the same games I do. The draw back of being a big side is that teams want to sit back and soak the pressure. Nicking. Point against us is a top result if they can mix it with home wins against the teams around them.

Coming up against our boys, you'd drop deep, let us play in front of you and squeeze the space out wide. It's alright people saying we are predictable, but how many teams positively change tactics for different games? To do this you need a squad of 22 quality players which we don't have. What happened yesterday happens all the time, spurs and city so far proving that it's easier said than done to break down 11 bodies time after time.

We are doing well blues, let's keep the faith

I agree with that as well. Newcastle have beaten Spurs today, and Sunderland have beaten City. So our away point looks a bit better, despite our poor performance(due in some way to the way Palace played) Anything less than a win for United now, and that should not be easy for them, and we stay fifth with, surprisingly, a better GD than Spurs. We are well in the mix..a result of any kind next week keeps it that way.
