I looked at the Czech woman who got the 400m record that still stands and she was about 3.5% faster than 3rd place. I dread to think what the time gap is between 1st and last on the stage today.

To update this. The guy in last place was actually eliminated for being outside the time limit. In a 22km time trial.

I can't see anything emerging tbh. The likes of GCN have a clear incentive to look the other way so who will do any digging? There's no Walsh or Kimmage any more.

I've watched almost all of Eurosport's live coverage this year. I feel cheated having seen today's time trial.

Their commentary team used the word "unbelievable" about 15 times in the final five minutes. That's absolutely what it was. Unbelievable. Not in the positive sense.

When even I doubt what I am watching, credulity stretched beyond belief.

That same sense of being cheated, but I am reminded of George W. Bush's words. "I don't know, but fool me once (Armstrong) shame on you... fool me twice and..... you can't get fooled again".

Probably not, but he'll try - hardest stage of the race. He said himself that his legs went missing on Marie Blanche earlier in the race, but he came back hard the next day, so hopefully he will animate things today. Problem is that a 22 k TT, even a very hard one like yesterday, isn't going to drain guys at this level too much. So I'd expect Jonas to be on song.
