Cycling thread

Is it possible to get away with doping in this day and age? Medical passports, random checks etc.

I may be being naive or I’m in denial
Once upon a time in a tour long long ago plenty of riders were hopped up on EPO, the authorities didn't know because they were unaware of the new cutting edge drug, suddenly riders that couldn't win a kick up the arse at the local flop house were putting down world record times. Medicine moves on, it tends to be for the military, and the 'cycle' will continue.

A support car knocked a rider off a few years back, roads clogged, mow em down. Riders and race are paramount, crowd the road face the consequences. Should have locked that wan ker up the other day. Just inviting this behaviour.
May be interested to known that the moto crew responsible for the hold up on the final col have been suspended from the race.
Tommy Voeckler, mobile commentator for France TV sports, and his driver have been fined and kicked off the race.
Must say that the crowd up there was ridiculous and was the cause of them falling off the moto.
They will have to limit access to the major cols.
Too many people , too mobile nowadays.

I'm sorry but it stinks. Cycling can't afford another drugs scandal
He "has a big heart", apparently. Lol! I recall the days of Indurain where we were all told his "lung capacity" was vastly greater than all other competitors...

Perhaps it was, perhaps it was. But certainly people's capacity for substances - and others' for having the wool pulled over their eyes - is certainly greater still...

Vingegaard achieved 7,6 w/kg. Unheard of.

Froome only achieved 6.2 on his best days.

No way he's clean. No way.
I'm sure he can show us all his data if he wants the benefit of the doubt. Oh, what's that? His team say they can't or won't do that because they do not want to give away secrets to the opposition?

Earth to Cycling: You have long since lost the right to hide behind "privacy" or "competitive advantage". Basically, you have been so corrupt that you are guilty until proven innocent. Share the data if your man is clean.

Friday almost a repeat of Thursday. Much smaller chase group due to tougher terrain.
I got the impression that they chasers weren't all working. Perhaps they didn't want another Phillipsen sprint win.

Phillipsen was apparently angry that his group of 10 or so, including some v strong riders, didn't get 1 m back on the front 3 and suspected moto drafting. You could seen him giving out to Pedersen and a couple of others.

It's possible but perhaps more likely a few members of that group were just holding a small bit back on the turns for the reason you say. You couldn't take a false turn in that company, but you could measure the effort somewhat.
