Never thought I'd see Pog beat Mads in a sprint either.
Quel surprise.

Nuts that he was only 40 seconds ahead when he crashed, but because there was no radios, the chasers didn't know about it so carried on arsing about. What a ride by by VdP.

2 seconds in 750m, against a flat out Bigham. Superhuman, guessin he'd had his weetabix.Road race dominated the WC events yesterday, but Ganna threw down a mental last two laps to beat Dan Bigham in the 4k pursuit. He was behind by miles (in pursuit terms) at halfway but took it by 0.05 secs.
Bigham is an amazing rider himself - nowhere near the talent of a WT rider like Ganna, but he is the supreme aerodynamicist.

Filippo Ganna produced a phenomenal ride to claw the gold away from Dan Bigham in the men’s individual pursuit at the UCI World Championships in Glasgow.www.eurosport.com
Stage two is very disappointing. I ride a lot around those parts and there's nothing of interest on the route apart from Beeston Castle. Wrexham are meant to be showcasing their own county and immediate countrisde (even if sone of it is in Denbighshire and Flintshire).Wout van Aert will ride the Tour of Britain - good news for the event. Starts next weekend in and around Manchester, then stage 2 from Wrexham.
Strange route choice on day 2, they're just arsing around Cheshire when Wales would be more interesting, but road closures are very challenging to arrange in this country.
It does seem like the route is largely driven by who wants to pay for it rather than where would make good racing.Stage two is very disappointing. Apparently Denbighshire weren't interested so this is the course they've stuck with. When it was first announced Wrexham were hosting I had planned on taking half the day off to watch it, but now I might not bother.
Alto de L'Angliru is a steep mountain road in Asturias, near La Vega-Riosa, in northern Spain. It is considered one of the most demanding climbs in professional road bicycle racing and is often used in the Vuelta a España stage race.I'll be giving the Angliru a go tomorrow. Quietly bricking it.
