He's now scored 42 goals direct from free kicks in his 7 years at Lyon. That's more than Beckham in his entire career.

Juninho Pernambucano is way better technically than Beckham, that i have no doubt. Beckham is a great role model for kids, great on the dead ball, and gives 100% for his team but he does lack in many area's. He cannot get beyond opponents and tends to drift out of games. I am not saying Juninho Pernambucano has all of these qualities, but there is more to his game individually than Beckham. Well that's my opinion anyhow.

Beckham's game has never been about beating players. It's about getting the ball and putting his pin point crosses.

While Juninho might be better techincally, he lacks the same brain as Becks. I've never seen someone put in a cross or a corner like Beckham. Pin point every time. Juninho is inconsistent too. Becks is much more effective.

Superb player and under-rated by many fans. He's still England best player imo, and he wants to play for the badge too. Not that i'm arsed about England.

The highlighted caption just about sums up Beckham's whole game. I agree with you a lot with what you say here especially that it's not in Becks game to beat players, but Juninho still is the better overall player with more to his game. If you asked me to compare both when it came to dead ball situations, i would say they would be pretty even but would favour Beckham slightly has the main kick taker. Beckham is a great role model, a decent enough fella and plays to his strength well, but for overall statistics regarding playing ability, i would definately put Juninho ahead on points.

What qualities do you think Juninho is better at then Becks?

Goalscoring at club level is quite close although Juninho's average is slighly better. Juninho - 724 Games, 173 Goals, Average Gls per game 0.238; Beckham - 420 Games, 84 Goals, Average Gls per game 0.2. It would be interesting to see the assist statistics but to answer your question, i feel Juninho is a more complete midfield player. Although its no fault of Beckham's nor is it a quality, he is more injury prone than the Brazilian ence Juninho being more consistant. I feel the reason Juninho is'nt noticed so much is because he has been at Lyon for 8 years now and he does'nt have that Becham"esque" branded name. Becks on the other hand has made several big moves to some of the biggest names in European football, so he naturally becomes more recognised. Juninho for me edges Beckham although at times, i do agree with you when you say he is England's best player. That only further emphasises the fact that England are quite poor. Juninho is a better short passer, tackles better and is generally a better playmaker.

Beckham is an artitect at the dead ball and crossing. More goals are scored from his dead ball and crossing/corners etc.

Thus making him the better player.
