David Beckham Thread

He's become more central these days anyway.

He played central for Real Madrid towards the end of his spell and for LA Galaxy.

He's only playing out wide for Milan because of Pirlo.

He played wide right for Real, especially under Capello.

They basically played a 4-2-2-2. Four defenders, two holding midfielders, two attacking wide players and two strikers.

I haven't really seen him at Galaxy, I couldn't say where he plays for them. He plays outwide because Pirlo is a better central midfielder, simple as really.

In a good team he brings balance to the side. In a shitty team doubt he would stand out.

Unlike Zidane or Figo, as mentioned, who would take any team they'd play to another level.

Beckham, though was a very good player, but hardly one of the top three. I think the only one who could be up there, and he never was that rated, was Giggs. He had it all to be one of the top three in the world. But marketing machine really worked for Becks as it is working for Cristiano.

Ronaldo did score 40 goals in one season to be fair to him.

I agree with you about Beckham though, he's no Zidane or Figo.

No question about it, I think he's been the best this season... at club level.

Still think that he's a marketing product though.

Outstanding player though lacking a bit of the pace he used to have.

I don't have a problem with him going to Milan if they're going to give MLS 15M+.

I'd rather see him stay in MLS though to continue to help build the sport in our country. He's been a very good ambassador even though he struggled with injury at the start of his MLS career.

I don't think he's been much of an ambassador in the MLS in fact I can't remember a time when he's ever did an ambassador type thing for the league. He doesn't give interviews, he sulked the entire season etc. There were at least 20 players in the league who had more impact than him in the league becasue he didn't bother to try. Let him go I say.

I think he's a very good player, but he needs to play with good players to maximize his ability. I do think Juhinino is better though, however I'm a bit biased, Junhino is one of my favorite players in the world.

MLS shouldn't just let him go for nothing though. I'd want at least 15M+, however I don't know what is buyout is, so they have to accept less.

There's talk that MLS might bid for Owen. It might do him some good playing in the US, he'll be closer to Dr. James Andrews.
