What happened after he left us was unfortunate. But im not one to hold grudges.David Moyes did a hell of a lot more good than bad for Everton. We were a shambles when he came to us.But within 6 years, he built a team that regularly qualified for europe, a team that was unlucky not to win the Europa League in 08 and the FA Cup in 09.He achieved all of this while having to sell to buy.We played some good stuff in his final season as well.Of course there was the flaws.Bottling nearly all the big games, and that FA Cup semi final against the rs.But all in all David Moyes was our best manager since Joe Royle. He was consistently a better Everton manager than Roberto Martinez as well.

Ha ha - the fella gave us plenty of good times over the years. I guess I am the anti-Davek!

He did can't deny it. However like Davek you worship a false idol.

I don't have a problem with how Moyes' team played, some of it was fantastic but he was never going to take us further than he did. Too much realism to believe and make the team believe they could do something special. Although saying that our full team in cup final might have caused Chelsea more issues and had they gotten to the CL final that year like they should have done might have been enough. Who knows what might had happened afterwards once that had been banked...

You can't ignore the record at the big clubs was abysmal and we were treading water for large periods. Moyes defence and conditioned team with the joie de vie of Martinez was something special though. We should have really hired them both on a timeshare basis. Each have the job just long enough so Moyes' dourness didn't seep into the team and Martinez couldn't corrupt the responsibilities of the defence and fitness.

I guess Moyes tended to beat everyone you would expect, more than his fair share of 50-50s and only won against the big boys at home. But this suggests he got the best out of what he had, so if he had that extra bit of resources we could have gone higher.

Certainly I would trust him to rebuild, and perhaps now he would be able to put the chimney on his well-built house. Perhaps even a nice garden!

That brilliant run-in in 2005 when Andy Johnson scored a hat-trick against Liverpool before we'd even signed him.

Looking forward to his memoirs in twenty years to find out just how we won the Champions league the same year Liverpool did and how he managed to overtake Fergie as United's longest-serving manager.
