David Moyes - Tactically Inept

He wasn't completely out of the picture in Moyes's eyes mate. He started prominently in the 2010-11 season but he really did put in a contract request shortly afterwards, completely fell out with the club and was pretty much dismissed from the Everton first team picture with Saha and Beckford utilised until he was shipped out on loan.

He said to... I believe it was one of the coaching staff, that he'd never play at Everton again in January, which forced our hand with the Leicester move. He then said the same thing whilst on loan at Leicester.

Think about it - why would we turn down a decent offer from West Ham but sell him for £1m a year later if he was already disposable?

Because no one would pay what we valued for him?

Gold said that west ham valued him at 1-2 million, which we rejected on the second bid.

Gets to this season, no one was really interested and we could only get 1.5mill for him

I'll hold me hand up then if you're telling me we weren't willing to sell Yakubu before this pay rise.

We were willing to sell him, but we weren't desperate to get rid. There's a difference mate. Every player at Everton is available for the right price.

What I'm saying is that the sale of Yakubu only became inevitable after his pay raise and contract extension request was rejected in September/October 2010. Until then we simply might have sold him if the right offer came in. At the time, the right offer didn't come in. By the time Yakubu was sold, any offer that had seven numbers in it would be enough as he didn't want to be here, the club didn't want his attitude and we badly wanted to shift the £50k a week off the books.

that tends to happen when you blow out your Achilles. Anyone wanting to even attempt to argue that we arent missing Yakubu probably ought to have their head checked.

Aye, but as Moyes lets him go for a million, it's up for him to get equal quality for the same sum. Bad man management and management in general from him. I have always agreed tho that if not played, get rid.

I don't think we are. We were this bad with Yakubu as well. He played a fair few games in his last season and managed one goal, and his hold up play wasn't great either. Added to that, Moyes had him chasing down everything and he was shattered inside 45 minutes.

We'd be missing him if we played the right system, but I honestly believe Van Persie would struggle the way Moyes lines up his teams so it makes no difference whether an average (yes, average) striker like present day Yakubu was here or not.

but there's a difference selling a key player for the right price, and one who's just a squad player down the pecking order.

The tit before you was saying that his contract request was the main reason he went My point was that he'd been on the cards to go for a while and wasn't that big a key in the squad, especially as he dropped the pecking order.

Well at least you put it across better than mongo who doesn't know what a football looks like

Oh he certainly wasn't indispensable. As far as I'm aware the only player at Everton who is literally untouchable in terms of a "reasonable" transfer offer is Tim Howard (as we couldn't find a better 'keeper for a similar price so there's no point selling, plus he brings in decent commercial benefits).

We don't have your Messi or Rooney type of indispensible player, as we saw with Arteta - who was in usual circumstances untouchable, but once you get a £10m+ offer come in and the player wants the move then it's game, set and match. We can't afford to take the stance Spurs did with Modric when that type of money is talked about.

Yak was someone we would have sold in a heartbeat for anything around £4m in 2010, but that offer never came in. The point is we were willing to turn down anything under it as we still felt he was an active part of the squad. Post-September/October, he simply wasn't.

*facepalms, whilst laughing*

Basically trying to say what Kenada is saying but fuming and typing on the mobile renders it imposdible. I know I spend too much time here when I argue with Damon only because he is very annoying and wrong. (except he seems to agree on most the Moyes out reasons, just not the conclusion)

Yes but if you actually read this thread you would know I am right.

I can guarantee I wouldn't agree on anything you said unless you recanted your nonsense about Moyes. He needs some money to spend. Thats it.

I think there's a good chance Matt Damon is Halewood Blue. Given that I've been on a forum before this one (I know right, shoot the infidel), I've seen his work a few times, and it wouldn't surprise me. Perhaps a Halewood admirer, if not the real thing.
