David Moyes - Taking a knife to a gunfight at West Ham, Part 2

I think that's fair. I don't think he'll get 10 years given that he's 57 unless he really does break the glass ceiling of the top 4 and starts winning actual trophies.

I'm not going to say that I'd eat my hat if he did win stuff, but I don't think my head would be getting cold anytime soon if I did.
There are too many teams competing for top 4 these days. There is a reason the media have called it a "top 6" and that doesn't even include us or any other team having a good season. I would be surprised if he makes a top 4 finish but that doesn't mean he has done a bad job. I am guessing his remit for this season was to finish top half.

He's done well there, their fans expected the worst at the start of the season when a young hopeful was sold to West Brom.

In one way he's the ideal manager for the West Ham board, as given time he can continually get respectful league finishes on a smaller budget.

But that same board are prone to making odd decisions (they completely lack class in my opinion). They'll sack him when he doesn't fit their perceived image of the club and replace him with someone who likes to 'play out from the back'. Then when he bombs they'll look for another Moyes.

But Moyes has redeemed his reputation in the game with what he's done there.

True

Do you think? I think that they are in a very similar position as we were under Moyes as he steadied the ship.

Plenty of nice platitudes about them, but West Ham fans will be frustrated once he hits his ceiling and they don't see any progress. Best of the rest is great when you are yo-yoing from midtable to the lower end of the table, but expectations rise and frustrations build. That's how this story goes as sure as the sky is blue.

100%.. I wanted Moyes to go years before he did.. but I never held resentment and like to see him doing well. West Ham are seasons away from the frustration we felt.. and if they feeling it already it’s way too soon.
Just think we the last team who should be judging how other teams are playing.. in spite of having hope of a better outcome eventually

As a fan you'd be made up to go 3-0 up after 30 minutes.

I didn't see today's game but I'm assuming it was a typical Moyes sit back performance after that lead. It's asking for trouble inviting pressure.

With him and Martinez I never felt confident even with a comfortable margin against stronger sides.

Bringing on super noble to sure it up at 3-2 with 25 mins left. How on earth did it go wrong!
